I'm Back!
I've been gone for the last 2ish years, and have been mainly on the Facebook group. The time has come, where the Facebook group is nothing but drama, and I personally hate seeing it. Since you all have last heard from me, I have had 3 more surgeries for my HS, 2 shoulder surgeries from an old work injury in 2009, and have been generally doing ok. My HS continues to progress worse and worse, even with the surgeries, I find they only help manage the HS better. After a surgery, I get approx. 6 months-1year of relief in that particular area. I've been flip flopping with surgeries areas; if I have my groin done, then ill see relief there, but still battling my buttocks or chest, and vice versa. I'm still on disability, and Medicare is a huge help medically. I look forward to reconnect with everyone I lost contact with.

I\'m glad to hear you are back. I was part of the HS group on facebook. Though I learned a lot from it, and found Dr. Hazen the HS Institute of Ohio, everything else I found was just about of drama and stupid. I left the group because one girl was posting her drama between her and her husband venting. I was tired of hearing it. I voiced my opinion that information was personal and should be shared with friends not a group. Then everybody jumped on me for that, and so I was out of there. I was wondering, do you smoke? Do you get a nurse to help you when you are recovering from surgery? I\'m going to get Co2 surgery, it\'s about 2 1/2 hours I don\'t know what area to do. The vagina is so bad. That area smells and really needs it but it\'s tougher there so it doesn\'t hurt me as much as the armpit, breasts, and tailbone hurt. What areas should I do first? I know I have to do the left breast most importantly because I get this one boil that gets infected every month and it gets to the size of a softball and red and hot. I\'m worsed it will be septic if I don\'t treat that one. I sorta want to do the vagina area because maybe then I could date and have sex again (been 3 years) but don\'t know the other areas bug me so much more. I\'m paying cash for the surgery $2400 out of my back pay. So I can probably only have 1 surgery. Are you finding the areas breakout again after surgery in the same area? Are they doing Co2 surgery on you?
i totally agree about the fb group. and i do smoke, but didnt when i had hs in my teen years. im not sure what Co2 surgery is? im sorry your going through tough areas. im fortunate to have smallerish breasts, so i only get it inbetween. i mainly have it all over my groin and butt, and very rarely in my armpits. i would honestly do the areas that are worse first. my surgeon was able to do surgery on inbetween my breasts and groin all in one operation. that might be something you could ask your surgeon about. what kind of surgery are you having? wide excision or skin graphs? mine was wide excision for all 7 surgeries, and it removed the hs inbetween my breasts almost completely. for my groin and butt, the surgeries have helped manage the hs more, but have not gotten rid of the hs. ivr heard of people doing skin graphs, and their hs going away in that particular area. $2400 for a surgery is great, i paid cash 1 time and it cost me $4900.
