Just the simplest of tips, chew gum.  The flavor of the gum, makes the formation of saliva to wet your mouth.  The eustation tubes go from your mouth to your ears to eqaulize presure when you rapidly change altitudes.  With the weakening of my right side, my eustation tube is also not working as well.  The best is sugar free, enough other things have sugar in them so you do not need anymore.  If you don't burn up the sugar immediately, it gets stored in your fat cells.

I am sorry you are going through so much pain now. Have you called your doctor? Have you had a relapse? Or are you having a bad time at home. Or, it could be both.

I hope things will work out well right away for you.

I like to post on here things that have worked for me for others to find help with their struggle, the sharing of ideas is exactly what the internet is for. I am in a good amount pain, but that is the way it goes. I walk, just not very well. I went to a meeting the other night that the national ms society gave and I saw someone there who was in a motorized cart, and I have a brother who has been in a wheel chair his entire life for something other than ms. I may walk with a cane now, but I am just keeping my muscles strong to not get to that point where I can\'t walk. I do not think it is a relapse, I just think that is the motor control that I have lost right now. Maybe some of it will come back. My Great grandfather diagnosed with ms also, I remember him in a motorized cart back in the eighties.

It\'s been 4 years for me and I still am at cane stage. I can walk unassisted tho--I credit it to daily walks. I can\'t go far or for too long, but each tiny bit of strength I maintain keeps me from not walking. I know people who lost the feeling in their legs immediately. So the fact that you are still up is really good! HUGS
