10/16/12 32w4d preggers!!!

So I just wanted to do a little quick update of my appt with the high risk Dr yesterday. As you know from previous journals, at 20 weeks an Echogenic Cardiac Focus was located on my baby's heart. The ECF does not harm the baby in any way or cause any heart defects... it's just a small calcium deposit located in the muscle of the heart and they usually go away before birth. So I was scheduled for another u/s at 25 weeks to check on the ECF again to make sure it wasn't any bigger and that no more had formed. No sign  of ECF... but the Dr did detect that one of my son's ventricles in his brain  was dilated :(. It was measuring on the higher end of what is normal. The doctor said that it could pose a risk for the baby if it gets any bigger. If a ventricle does pass the normal range then something is usually going on in the brain... a blood clot or malformation of the brain. Sometimes babies just have larger ventricles and nothing can be wrong with them. But, depending on the severity of the condition it could cause a developmental delay or if severe, can cause water on the brain and mental retardation, etc. So I had to return to the high risk Dr yesterday for a follow up on the baby, more importantly now that I have Gestational Diabetes. I had another ultrasound done and the Dr was proud to announce that everything was NORMAL!!!!! :D Still no sign of ECF, and then the ventricle had shrunken down to the normal size again! Wow I'm still in shock and it almost gives me chill bumps just thinking about it. He also told me the baby weighs an estimated 4 pounds 7 oz which is still normal for 32 weeks, but of course he wants me to come back in a month to check the baby again to make sure his weight isn't getting out of hand due to the GD. But, as long as I keep my sugars under control and stable under 120, then everything should be fine. :D So excited now! Less than 8 weeks till Aydan makes his grand entrance to the world!
