10/04/2009 Update
I didn't go to the party, just couldn't bring myself to do that yet. My friend will understand but I am sorry to not have been there for her. Had dinner at my sister's and told my 91 year old aunt about the breakup. She is shocked and so sad. I'll add her to the list -- haven't found anyone yet that isn't. Actually went to bingo this afternoon by myself just to pass the time. Afternoons are still the worst for me. Glad it's getting dark earlier and earlier. Don't feel so bad about hitting the couch and not doing anything in the evening. Me and the furkids!

jwalkr, I will add you to my friends as you have requested. I hope that you can get through this well. The best way is to be as direct with yourself, be kind to yourself, don\'t allow yourself to overindulge in the blues. Find something you like to do that makes you happy and, when you feel blue, try to have those things to do and DON\'T obsess as it really does no good and cuts down on the rest that you need soooo much right now as you \"heal\" from this injury.
the weekends are the worst. I try to stay busy, but there are only so many things you can do alone. Hang in there!
jwlkr, I hear you on the \"just couldn\'t bring myself to to that\" -- been there, done that. Nothing wrong with declining and no long, involved explanations are needed.
take good care of yourself -- eat, rest, pray
i will keep you in my thoughts and prayers
I struggled so much in the beginning. I think most of us did. I barely got out of bed in the beginning. I promise it very slowly gets better. You will laugh again and find a new you. Hugs.
At the beginning I was busy getting the house ready to sell. Although I was busy it was mindless work and I obsessed about the divorce. It was like a tape recorder playing over and over again. It was awful. But over the past months the voice in my head is getting fainter. Now I have time and since most of my friends are married I am kind of at loose ends on the weekends. But I refuse to feel sorry for myself or feel guilty about watching a football game if its beautiful outside. After spending YEARS focusing on my stbx wife and marriage I can focus on me now. Everything in its own time. Kathi and sld1 have been correct-it DOES get better. Take your time. Big hugs from RV.
Hi jwlkr,
I have legal paperwork all over the table that I have to get to, and I just keep avoiding it, so I know that feeling of not being able to force yourself to do something.
I hope that feeling gets a little better each day. You may not notice at first, but gradually you will be able to do more and more.
Some days I can\'t do anything beyond eating a little and taking a shower. On those days, I try to write a little list of what I DID do, so I can read it and see that I didn\'t just stay in bed.
It helps get me up and moving the next day.
((hugs))
