It appears someone has left our membership ranks but for some reason, DS is not letting me see the full member list again so... frankly this may well be my only way to know if you're still with us or not! So even if you don't frequently comment on the posts here anymore, I'd really appreciate it if you just dropped in right here to say hi, not only because I'm curious who is still here and who's jumped ship, but also because it's nice to know you're all alive and kicking (well, it's more so nice to know you're alive and kicking but it's also helpful for me to know the status of our membership). So help me out and at least drop in to say 'hi' - but of course, if you have more on your mind, want to tell us about what you did over the weekend or your plans for the week ahead, talk about the weather, vent about something, or just ponder the the great questions of life, we're all for that too!

And its already been noted by the weather service as heat advisory today thru Wed here.I have a rack of St. Louis Cut Pork Ribs. I will use a charcoal snake method of two rows on bottom shingled around about 3/4 of way on outside of the grill. Getting my second Covid shot today, Monday. Had a not so fun reaction to the first shot, so I am NOT looking forward to getting this second shot!

tomorrow. First time since pandemic hit. Also ate in Burger King a few months ago. Other than that I just cook or get delivery.
So far, just really fatigued and achy. Hope it doesn't get any worse than this.
GirlinCalif, which vaccine did you get? I've got my appointment for my first shot tomorrow; I'm getting the Pfizer one. I hope the side effects you experienced were minimal and that you feel better now.

I got Pfizer. I had done extensive research about the possible side effects before getting any of the shots, and I had heard mostly people do not get much of a side effect from the first shot. My main concern was having any kind of allergic reaction to something in it, as I have a lot of allergies. I had already spoken to my doctor a few times before, and cleared everything with him first.
That's why I was surprised after the first shot, that I felt SO tired and weak, I would say after one hour of getting it. I felt "okay" the first hour after the shot. Then the tiredness, weakness, whole body aches (that lasted 8 days) and that night I broke out in a rash, nowhere near the injection site though. I was scared and cried all that night. Had the body aches for a total of 8 days (better by the 5th day), and just tired and weak for several days. This is after the first shot.
I got the second shot yesterday, 21 days later. I had about the same side effects yesterday - really super tired, weakness, little nauseous, and body aches. It feels a lot like having the flu. The worst of it was the first 12 hours. Oh, I got dizziness after the first 5 minutes, which lasted 12 hours also. Then I felt well enough to stand up to take a shower. Today, I am better, but still very tired, weak still, and I am sure I will have the body aches for several days (like last time).
I was happy not to get any fever or chills or headache or anything super bad. I wouldn't worry about it if I were you. Every one reacts differently to the vaccine, and some don't have any side effects at all after the second shot. Most people don't have any side effects from the first shot, so you should be just fine. Your arm will be a little sore for a couple days probably, but to me, that was the least of my symptoms.
Good luck with your shot and I hope all goes well for you. I think you will be just fine. The shot itself is quick and painless.
The shot was quick and painless; I barely had my rear in the seat before the tech had jabbed me, stuck a bandage on it and said "go sit over there for 10 minutes". I was more dizzied by how fast I was processed and done with it. Pfizer vaccines are hard to come by around here save for where they are running special clinics at local schools trying to encourage more parents to get their teens vaccinated, but since I wanted that one rather than take my chances with the other two I had to sign up for one of those clinics, so I got my jab in a middle school gym - it was loud and unseasonably warm and I had a hard time getting my bearings just because it was very much a sensory overload situation. Getting the shot was the easy part. And I have to go through it all over again in like 3 weeks.
I haven't had any side effects other than the arm soreness but I also took a Tylenol when I got home and drank a lot of water because I've heard that both help to mitigate any side effects. Pretty much everyone I know that has had the Pfizer one had no side effects except my brother and sister-in-law, both of whom didn't take my mom's advice about taking Tylenol afterward. My brother had issues similar to yours only for him it lasted only a day; he took off from work and slept all day but was better the next day after that.

I think this is a good sign that you will do okay for the second shot, too! That does sound a but overwhelming about being in the school gym. Maybe you could wait near the exit door (to have more air), or at the end of the aisle (if they have folding chairs set up), to lessen that sensory overload, for when you get your second shot. And look at your phone or a book while waiting the 10 minutes.
Mine was at a drug store called CVS. They set up folding chairs in the greeting card section for the 15 minute after-waiting.
Like I said, I was surprised at how many side effects I had, even with the first shot. I am 4 days after the second shot now, and I did have to sleep a lot today, just couldn't stay awake, but I feel that I am doing better each day and hope to be all better with those body aches and the fatigue, within a couple more days.
I also heard about hydrating one hour before, and also after, and I did do that. I did not take any Tylenol or any other pain relievers. I would have, if I had gotten any high fever (I had no fever or headache, thank goodness). I just try to avoid taking any pain medicine at all, generally speaking. And I read about don't take Tylenol before, but it's okay to take after.... so I was trying not to take any at all, as I found this information to be confusing and that information didn't make sense to me.
