So sorry for your loss. I lost my husband 3 months ago. And your not alone in your feelings. For me it's missing my other half. He is just not there I still want to talk with him when something good, crazy or awful happens, but he is not there and now after him having my back for the past ten years I now have to figure out how to navigate life on my own. I'll tell you some days in a great success and others I just want to go back to bed. But I go out every day and try, I joke that he would haunt my ass if I just gave up but I'm sure he would find a way to get me in gear. I'm in the process of navigating my lonelyness and trying to get back out there but it's hard. You mentioned walking in circles I did that four times the other day walking around my house like I know I need something but I have no idea what got to work sat down and was like ohhhh my lunch. Something so simple and every day but I had not a clue. so your not alone. What I learned is everyone navigated grief differently and there is no right or wrong you just do. Hi Laurie, so sorry about your husband. I understand exactly what you mean, I'm missing my other half too. Just yesterday I got home and while I was putting things away turned to tell him something and, like you said, he's just not there. I know what people mean now when they say part of them died too. Everything I thought was going to be isn't. My future, gone. Just like that. It's terrifying. And then I get frozen. What am I doing if I'm not working towards that future? And how do I now plan for a future I don't want? Frozen. I don't know who I am anymore. I'm just lost without him. Thanks for the kind words and support.

Hi, I am 32 and lost my soulmate my best friend who was only 29 in aug 2017.. we were married for 3 and a half years and dated eachother for 2 before marriage... i feel lost... its like iv had a memory lapse and cant remember most of the things... i feel empty and its like a part of me has died... im just pushing my days to reach the end where i will get to be with him again

Hello. I am 46 but still consider myself a "young" widow. I have 3 kids, ages 17, 15 and 11 and my sweet husband was only 48 when he died in December of 2016. He had been sick most of last year with kidney infections, pneumonia, pulmonary embolism and ultimately, sepsis. He had been making a lot of improvements and it was a total shock that he passed away. I am struggling emotionally and feel like no one actually knows how I feel except others who have had similar horrific experiences. I hate going to be alone and I hate waking up even more. I lay awake most nights crying and dread the next day, which I spend wishing I could crawl back into bed and pretend this is all a dream. Anyway, I hope to give as much as I get out of this group.

Hello. I'm not on this site nearly as much as I used to be. I lost my husband very suddenly in August 2015 when I was 40. So, I'd like to tell you all how very sorry I am for your losses. It's true that when we're widowed young it's hard to talk to others who truly understand. While I won't say that things will get better, but the memory will return slowly (I still have lapses). My heart still aches for my husband. But, I'm learning to to live again and find joy in life. It does take A LOT of work, and I know I still have a long road to go. But you will & can do it.

What I've learned is the importance of reaching out to others who are widowed. In my city, on a website called meetup.com we have a widowed group that has been a huge support to me. I have made some very good friends in that group.

Might I suggest (if you haven't already) search for groups where you live? For me, not only is it good to talk to other widowed people (because this isn't an easy road to navigate alone) but it's also important to have fun with others who are widowed.
