Hi
My name is Laurel and I lost my husband in a snowmobile accident 3 months ago. We had only been married for three and a half years, although we had been together for almost 10. It's still really hard for me to comprehend that he's gone. Sometimes it feels like this whole thing is a dream. I guess I joined this group to make sure I wasn't alone when I felt like this.

I lost my husband August 27th...I haven't allowed myself to believe it's true yet...just too soon for me.

Always early. That's when people look for that ear to listen. it's the hardest early on. You feel an emptiness inside. It's been a year and five months for me. I still have my days when I cry. Today I stood in the rain at the cemetery crying while my son and daughter watched in the car. Crying because I miss my wife....but also crying because I feel better about life right now. I go to the cemetery and tell my wife that I'm moving forward like she said to....to be happy no matter how long it takes. I still get angry and sad, saying she left us....or what did she expect me to do without her?, but I remain vigilant with moving forward. I wish I could say it gets easier....I can't. Every person is different and overall, in my opinion, it never gets easier it just gets manageable. Managing the crying fits, the loneliness, the reminders, triggers, etc..., you just manage it. I still travel through time as I say. Walking in a room and remembering her there, getting mail in her name and just feeling so empty, wanting to call her when something happens (those are brutal), and looking at something and just saying to myself, "I still can't believe you're gone"; all just manageable. Good luck to you guys. Don't hesitate to reach out. I met a great friend on here two weeks after my wife passed and I can honestly say she's gotten me through a lot and her friendship is something that I cherish and is everlasting. I call her my sister through pain....we chat nearly every day. Find your grieving buddy....best advice I can give right now. God bless. Ramon

It has been 8 weeks for me, and some days I just have to push on until tomorrow. Emotions rise up at random times and are hard to predict. I miss my wife everyday, and I feel lost sometimes. We had so many plans for the future that will never be accomplished. I am just starting to come to terms with having to begin this "new life". You most definitely are not alone.

I feel you Joe. All we can do is keep moving forward. There is nothing profound anyone can say to prepare you for this new life. It sucks....pure and simple. I wish you the best.

You are not alone. I lost my 31 yr old fiance (I am 29) on June 24th. I have days where the loss is so great it's hard to breathe and then I have days where I think he's coming back (like he's on vacation or something). Being younger is an added difficulty as I am sure you know too, not a lot of people who can relate. I'm here anything you need to talk.
