Writers With Post Traumatic Stress Disorder WWPTSD Community Group
I started this group because I suffer from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and I was an avid writer before the Event that caused PTSD. Ever since I have realized that writing is the key to me overcoming this and making myself whole again. I would like to reach out and support others on this journey or a similar one.

My Angel, My very Special Angel, has kept watch over me since my first memories. In the beginning, my Angel shown himself through my grandmother who raised me, for he knew in her arms, I found comfort, safety and love. As a child, I would never have understood his presence as a stranger. At the age of 13, God called her home and though I did not think so, her job here was complete. It would not be until I was 20 years old, that I would feel that same presence in my life. As though divinely planned, I was employed in a federally funded job, that allowed me to work on the honor system and schedule my time as I saw fit...to do my best. This time he came to me, looking tattered and poor and I judged him to be about 80 years old. While working in my office alone, a soft knock on the door, somewhat startled me. From the moment I opened the door, I felt that compelling feeling, that said to me....STOP ! You must listen, with all your heart. He began, telling me about his life and at first, I listened with compassion to what I had adjudged to be a lonely person needing someone to talk to. Soon though, he began telling me things I should know. He told me what I would encounter, what faith I needed to keep hold of and though it made no sense to me, I could not help but give him my undivided attention. He did; however; assure me there would be someone at my side to see me through it all. And then as surely as he came into my life, he was ready to go. He thanked me for taking the time with him and brought tears to my eye’s when he struggled to pay me for that time. Of course, I could not accept one penny and instead was left feeling as though I should have paid him. He had mentioned that he lived in town, yet when I searched to find him, not a soul knew or had heard of him. My search was extensive, having access to all the town records because of my job and being a small town, he should have been easy to find. As strange as I thought that to be, being young, I dismissed that meeting easily, yet still never forgot the essence of the words he spoke. As the years passed, those things he told me would come to light. I had suffered alone since the passing of my Grandmother(Mom in my eyes, a title well earned) and living with my birth-mom had earned me only more scars and 2 rapes, by her drunken boyfriends. All of those times, culminated in a less than lucid night in July of 1982. The weight on my shoulders overtook me and from that point I have only the memory of driving away from home, picking up someone who was needing to get to a gas station and then awakening, 3 states away from home. I could only assume, that I was made to drive to that point, but I truly did not know. The State police ushered me back home to the town I remembered being a good samaritan in, and then into a detectives room, where I was floored by the feeling of that presence once more. This time, he was a stodgy upper middle aged detective and asked that I only be truthful with him. As I opened my mouth to speak, he stopped me and said “I know, what happened, all that mattered was that you were willing to be truthful with me. He then said, I am going to take you out the rear door, away from the reporters and other law enforcement and I want you to remember one thing. “I, will always be with you”. True to his word, I walked away with no one the wiser, except for me. As before, when I returned to find and thank him for all he had done, no one in the Police dept. could recall a Sgt. by his name, ever working there. Even though I showed then the card with his name on it that he had given me, they insisted there had never been a Sgt. Broderick that ever worked there. Sometimes, we just have to believe and not question.

oh my goodness. I just posted my angel encounter story, and started to read your story. There is no doubt we have Angels watching over us. I have always believed, felt, maybe made up.. I don't really know, but I believe my Angel's name is Jonathon. Not sure when I first knew this, but it soothes me to know he is with me. I had forgotten him for many years. Not I want to never let go. I am so blessed to have read this and thank you for such a beautiful story.
