I am at a crossroads again
Neither path follows the one I am on
There are no guides
No signs or markers
Nothing to help me judge my journey
What am I to do?
I have been here so many times before
And yet this is not the same
Or is it?
I wish for a fellow traveler
To find and guide me along my way
And yet I do not know if one shall come
Do I wait for them?
And watch the roads turn old?
Do I wander aimlessly down either?
And find myself in darkness?
What am I to do?
Should I question every rock and pebble?
And ask of them directions?
Do I ask the woods that block my view?
Tell them to move aside so I may see?
Should I spin and follow the path I fall down?
Oh road before me
Where are your answers!
Where is your voice road?
I beg of you, tell me your way
Let me know where you lead
Tell me of those who followed you
Show me what is coming
Road why do you not speak to me?
Road?
Tree, so tall, tell me what you see
Tell me what is at the end of the road
Tell me how long I must follow
Move tree so I may see beyond you
Move tree so I may see the forest
Let your branches drift from my view
And your many leaves bend down
So that my eyes will be unblended
Tree why do you not move?
Tree?
Oh sun so bright
Will you not shield yourself?
You are blinding me so badly
That I can not see the road or tree
Can you not call upon a cloud for cover?
Dim your light so that my eyes may be clear
Let your light be broken so I may look
Sun why do you not do as I say?
Sun
What is this madness?
There is no voice
There is no movement
There is no dimming
Why does no one see?
I am at a crossroads that I can not see
Why does the road not speak?
Why does the tree not move?
Why does the sun not dim?
What madness is this that is before me?
I am at a crossroads again
And yet I have never been here
Where is my guide
Where is my sign
Where is the voice
Who shall lead me?
Who shall tell me what to do?
How am I to do this on my own?
There is a crossed road before me
It leads every way but back
This is a road of no return
And yet I see nothing but crossed road
Are there mountains
Are there valleys
Are there monsters and boogiemen
Are there lies and pain
Are there wrong turns and failings
Is there love
Is there hope
Is there faith, and family
Could there be answers
Or more questions
I am standing at this crossroad
And I am watching my feet
But they are not moving
They wait for me to move
And yet I fear moving
For what if I chose wrong?
What if after all this worry and fear
I walk down the wrong road
And find only mountains
Only valleys
Monsters, boogiemen and lies
What if
What if
What if
And then I do
Then what
Before me is the future divided
Behind me is a sinking ship of nothing
Within me is a question
And out there is an answer
How then shall I choose?
If I watch my feet will I know which path I walk?
If I question the road will it answer?
If I move the tree can I view the way?
If I dim the sun can I see?
What does it matter if I am watching my feet?
I stand before a crossroads
I stand before my choices
I stand on my own
I must choose my path
Before me is a crossroads like any other
Yet I have never been here before
And I will never return
So it is just a crossroads
No better, no worse than those before it
And those to come after
But this crossroads is mine alone
And I will not watch my feet
And I will not ask the road
And I will not move the tree
And I will not dim the sun
I will look before me
And I will find the
Biggest
Toughest
Meanest
Mountains
And valleys
And monsters
And boogiemen
And pain
And fear
And I will laugh
And I will over come
Because this is my crossroads
And I will choose my own way
Neither path follows the one I am on
There are no guides
