Romans Study: Chapter 4:21-25

Romans 4:21-25 (NLT)


 


I chose to do only 5 verses today, just to finish out the chapter.


 


21-25 “He [Abraham] was fully convinced that God is able to do whatever he promises. (22) And because of Abraham’s faith, God counted him as righteous, it wasn’t just for Abraham’s benefit.  It was recorded (24) for our benefit too, assuring us that God will also count us as righteous if we believe in him the one who raised Jesus our Lord form the dead.  (25) He was handed over to die because of our sins, and he was raised to life to make us right with God.”

Paul was obviously learned in the old testament. (He Was studying to be a Pharasee).

But, Paul had moved from a head knowledge of God to a heart knowledge of God.

He realized that the old testament was recorded, "moles and all" to show how God had dealt with ancestors, and how he could deal with us.

Thank you for your input Mary. Yes, Paul tells us in 1 Corinthians 10:1 not to forget about the Israelite's that were guided by the cloud and walked through the sea on dry ground. He tells us in verse 5 that God was not pleased with most of them, and their bodies were scattered in the wilderness. Then in verse 6 he tells us that these things were recorded as examples for us so we wouldn't crave or lust after evil things. So I totally agree with you. Our actions can certainly get us into trouble if we don't obey God. God gives us rules for a reason,

I believe that if we have a true understanding of what Jesus did for us, and that we are made righteous in God's sight through our FAITH in Jesus, as today's passage speaks about, then we will have right behavior. I hear often that if we believe right, then we will behave right. I think that's because we will no longer feel condemned and we will have a true desire to please God.

Absolutely. We will be raised or actually, just "switch addresses".

Paul is a prime example of how God takes broken people\sinners and uses them for great things. His history is very interesting. Thanks, Jeane
