What a great topic of conversation.

I think I always knew God existed. My grandmother who I was very close to, made him an integral part of her life; she taught me from a very early age that God was my best friend.

Of course, he has become much more real to me as I’ve grown older and witnessed many miracles.

Hmm. Interesting. So, I think part of what I have to say will be similar to what Shadowlady said. I grew up in a Christian family, so even though we were faaar from perfect they believed that God existed and I never really questioned it. I see a lot of evidence that He does exist (and I'll list some).

I think most evidence that God exists falls into one of two basic categories: 1. all of creation, and 2. His intervention in my life and those of people I see or know.

Under the first category creation is just so complex that after what close to 6 or 10 thousand years of human existence (I forgot the right #) we're still trying to understand very much of it. I don't believe this level of complexity could have ever evolved, and science is increasingly coming out that supports this position.

I follow a couple of websites somewhat: icr.org (institute for creation research) and answersingenesis.org (anyone interested can find more information there).

Under the second category, the times I know God has intervened...... I mean to start writing these down to remind myself...... but,


there was the time I was trying to get my son somewhere he needed to go and things were going against us and I prayed and God intervened - and we got there just fine.

Then there was a time when I was trying to figure something out, it was really important, after a couple days of logic and planning I remembered that I had been working at it but hadn't prayed. So I prayed about it and God told me to hold my peace, that the thing I was expecting to be a big problem wasn't going to be, and He was right.

Then there's every time I do or want to do something kind or thoughtful, because I know that without God I would be selfish and not care about most other people.

And then, there are other people. Anytime I see someone change for the better, wanting to live for God where they hadn't wanted to before, well I attribute that to God.

Now, I know that there is evidence that a lot of people are not loving God and not loving their neighbors, we see it every day on the news. But I just take that as evidence that God was right when He talked in the Bible about how the human heart will be when it isn't submitted to Him.

My last one (for now) is Jesus.

Jesus said in the Bible that He is God, the Son. But, Jesus isn't just in the Bible. Even secular history has records that show He existed.

True, He is God, son, and Spirit all in one. Do you ever were in a situation and you know that no way you can handle or get out and He steps in and you know it has to be Him because it was an impossible situation?

God gives His children an angel and they are there to keep us. The children of Isreal in the OT remains me that if I do not obey God I will not be saved.

Years ago I had a brain tumor and was told that i would not live to see 2003. I walked into my doctor's office and when he saw me he look as if he saw a ghost. He said how I point up to the sky and he said that he does not want to hear. I did not do surgery, my church only prayed over me and for me. But I know that God is real because in my weakness I feel is strength. This is just one way I know. I have many examples

About obeying God and being saved........I think it's more like God saves us and out of gratitude we do our best to obey, knowing that we will not be perfect at it this side of heaven, but leaving sins in the past daily and moving forward in our growing faith....of course we would never intend to disobey, and we would even plan to obey, but I don't believe that individual incidents of disobedience leave our salvation in doubt. God keeps His promises.
