I don't know about anyone else, but I'm sure capable of getting very uptight without too much effort. I am grateful for the ability to stop, re-focus and recognize what's important. As I type my children are outside dancing in the rain; they are soaked and having a blast being able to play like that. One of my favorite things is a good thunder & lightening storm, I love being able to watch them (just not drive in them and definitely not dance in them). I want my children to one day reflect on the beauty of dancing in the rain.
Thunder and lighting? Get them babies in! lol. Just kidding. And yes, I know what you mean! I used to let my kids do that too, and I would join them. Like when it snows too...love catching the snowflakes with our tongues...or at least try to!
i sat out on my balcony last night. it was maybe 2 a.m. or so. on starry nights i think of my little girl (who is being raised by my mother and sister) and i feel so connected to her. sort of like we are together because we both are sleeping under the same stars created by God. my down stairs neighbor was up to no good. he's an alcoholic and lost his job. said he didn't do drugs. just drank--lol--but last night as i sat gazing at the heavens i watched many an unseemly character going in and coming out of his place. i thanked God for the simple pleasure of being grateful i have a child in this world, that the stars make me smile, that the wind blows through the trees at night, and that i am no longer going in and out of door's like my neighbor's. a refuggee lost in another language.
My kids have very few "good" memories of being young children. But the one that they always, always cling to and remind me constantly of is "Mama, Remember when we lived in NY? Remember how all of us danced in the rain that day?" I couldn't forget if I tried.
living in florida everyone knows we survived four hurricanes right in a row one year. instead of sitting in the dark, cause our power was out, we went outside and back our cars up and washed the cars. had a blast in the rain! used nature to rinse the cars. backed them back under the shelter and let the wind blow dry them off. it really was fun. wish i could post the pics!
I am thankful I recoverd from my last MRI visit so fast and feel back to as normal as I can be. I feel blessed with the health I have today and to be able to sit out on my deck watching my cat try to spot things in the bushes and not feel no pain. Just a cool glass of ice tea and Cheetah to make me smile.
I totally love a hot summers night when the storms roll in too! Just amazing!
