Hi Ladies-
I know by the posts that many of you have cats. I need some advice.
My bengal who's name is tigger starting urinating on my rugs that last 6 months or so. The first incident that I can remember was in Decemeber when my husband had torn apart our living room and dining room to paint them. Tigger was so upset he walked on one of the drop clothes right in front of us and urinated. That was a one time incident. In February I got sick which eventually lead to a dx of Hep C, well during that time as you can imagine things were a bit stressful in the house. I started noticing urine stains on my carpets. Then when my husband and I would be talking he would get upset and just pee right there. I had a vet come over in June to examine him, I spent almost $400 on tests which all came back normal. I bought 2 more litter boxes which made it a total of 4 boxes. One of the boxes that I bought was on of those self cleaners. Cost me $200. O.K. so now we have 4 litter boxes for 2 cats with 3 different kinds of litter. I clean them faithfully every day. In the last 2 weeks he has urinated right in front of me. What the heck is going on?? He is using the boxes, why is he doing this? I've been paying a lot of attention to him I even started working from home 1 day a week so I could be home with him. This is crazy! I really love him to death but I can't have him urinating all over my house, and my husband is starting to really complain. He never wanted to have animals to begin with (I don't have kids, so I need something to mother).
Has anyone out there had the same experience? Any suggestions on what I could do? Oh yes I forgot to mention that he also peed downstairs in our family room on our wet bar! On the counter!! What the heck??

Not sure if this helps, but somehow I would guess it is an emotional thing that Tigger is acting out. Good luck. Also make sure that when he does pee where he isn't supposed to the area gets cleaned really well, the sent will have them go there again.
Yes I was on my hands and knees this morning going over all the different areas with Nature's Miracle. I was trying to stick the sticky paws stuff on the area's but it won't stick to the carpet. I might put some tin foil down those area's for awhile. I just hate the thought of seeing tin foil everywhere. Oh well. Maybe this too shall pass. Thanks!
If the vet has ruled out any physical reasons then you have to become a kitty head shrink lol ! Something has pissed him off. You have either changed something,for instance you moved the furniture around, someone moved in the home etc...You have to introduce things that are new to some cats slowly. They are like old ladies ! They have to be introduced to change slowlyyyyyyy. There are books that tell you all about cats and the phycological aspect of them that is just amazing. That's whats so cool about them. Dogs hell..they just want someone to be the pack leader, feed em, walk em etc...Cat's they are a whole diff story ! LOL !

but... my sister has a cat who does this.
Her cat dropped out of nowhere and adopted her and my Mom last May on the long weekend.
My Mom has had to move from her house (long story) anyways my sister also had to move because my brother is selling that house.
Anyways, his first night in her new house he did just that on her freshly made bed. The next day he did it on another new just set up freshly made bed. She is having internation students come and live with her so she's been setting up rooms for them and each in it's turn got this treatment.
It has to be a psycological thing... or marking his territory cause he doesn't want 'more' change... they must be a little bit like us in our own anxiety worlds.
Good luck with him.. I'll let you know if any stratagies that my sis puts in place work for her.
