i started my 1st day of AM class monday at the VA. we had to go around and say things like "hi my name is bla bla and i've been angry since i served in the military bla bla..." i took notice that not only was i pretty much the youngest one there but the only FEMALE! and this guy next to me looked at me and was like "are you a veteran? why are you here?" i looked at him like he was crazy and said "well uhh DUHH!!! why are YOU here??!!!"
so when it was my turn to speak and introduce my self, i couldn't help after stating my name but say "...and yes i AM A VETERAN i served 5 years in the Marine Corps, and i've been angry all my life!"
so what the hell is the deal with people and they never think that us FEMALES are vets too and few of us HAVE served in the CORPS!! most MEN can't even handle the Corps so they better not even dare look at me with question, cuz boy, i tell you, piss me off and find out!! sad to say it this way, but i guess i'm more "man" than they are! LMAO!! and i feel like wearing a t shirt that says "welcome to the 21st century assholes! a few of us women CAN kick the living hell out of you sorry asses! and us women marines got bigger iron balls than most you guys that can't even handle the Corps! LMAO"
anyway... the class is a 12 week course so wish me luck on it! thanks!
ps: i'm sorry i haven't been on much. i was fighting some horrible migraines for over 2 weeks and towards the end of it i found out i had another kidney infection. i'm doing better now and trying to get back into things. just wanted everyone to know in case you were wondering about me.
And I might say..I am a wife of a veteran. Army. Also, thank you for your service and I most certainly support you gals and guys! I am a newbie here. Yes I do agree that the females have more balls than the guys do. Sometimes I wish I went into the military. Buttt.. the military has changed over the years and what they have done to my husband...I've had a change of heart. Still good luck with your 12 week course and take care of yourself.
hi bluesun and thank you for your service. i think anyone who serves is amazing. i have to be honest though, when i think of a marine i think of a man but your right it's time i changed my thinking, i've just never known a female marine. Thanks again.
Thank you for serving. My Dad was career Air Force and retired as a Colonel. I grew up an AF brat so it looks like we have the military in common bluesun :0)
thank you for all your support. i really appreciate it. i just had to vent about this cuz i'm sick of being asked those questions like am i a military wife or a "dependent" cuz i'm just a female. well there's more of us out there. one thing i learned about the Corps is that the men hate you for being a female in a "mans" branch of service. yes the military today is not the same. it is full of back stabbing assholes that are power hungry. and those men that hate us female marines did everything in their power to ruin our career and reputation. sad to say, the military today is full of dirty politics and corruption. i'm not sure how the other branches are cuz they got more females in the men-to-women ratio. and the Corps is not only the most elite branch but has the least amount of females in the ratio. so the few females are in it have to fight their way thru everything. we are despised by most of the guys but i kid you not, we have and will kick the shit out of any male that pisses us off!! sexist bastards!
Right on bluesun..I have to tell you a story, I was pissed at the time but it's kinda laughable.
I too am a Vet. I was an Army officer and I while I was in the Army, I was selected to go through Airborne School, and YES, I passed it and earned my SILVER WINGS - parachutist badge. That's in Ft. Benning and they HATE women going through paratrooper school.
Anyway, the funny story is when I was first time registering at the American Legion (for the 'money' book where you can win money on their daily drawings). Well, there are 2 separate books for that - a black colored book (black binder where the actual Veterans sign in hopes to win the 'big' money) and then there is the pink colored book (a pink binder for the auxiliary- or wives of Veterans to sign). I think you know bluesun what is comin next.. lol.
Well, when I showed up at the Legion for the first time, I reached out to the bartender to give her a dollar and told her I wanted to sign the 'black book'. She looked at me REALLY strange and said 'oh honey, you mean the pink book'. (I was quite young too bluesun - like 22). I said to her "no.. I want the BLACK book to sign". She still questioned me , until finally my dad (who was also a Legion member) had to come over to her and prove that I was an Army veteran.
I was so pissed off that I told my dad that day "what's wrong with these people, surely they've heard of FEMALE service members??!!" My dad just sort of laughed, and said "well you know some of these people in here act like they've been livin under a 'rock'" That particular barmaid, or bartender or WHATEVER was NOT a service member so she figured I waas the WIFE of a Veteran!
I empathize with you here, 'sistah'.. and even though I'm Army, I'm high fivin you, MARINE... thanks for serving your time too. Hope your AM class goes well. God bless you, bluesun.
I want to say thanks for serving and congrats for doing it!!..society just will not accept to this day 2008!! a woman can do this job and ya know what!!! better than a man!! they hate to admit a woman can and does have more balls than they could ever dream of!! I know its frustrating..but be proud of you and hold your head up high for you and and all of us!!! kudos girl!!!.. what are they thinking we have periods every month childbirth..menopause..and take care of the house and the family..raise the kids.they know we are the stronger sex and they hate it!!..
It sounds really bizarre that actual veterans who surely have served with women are so stupid as to think you couldn't be a veteran because you're a woman.
Women have been serving in the military for a long time. And have bfrequently een in dangerous situations for the last few wars.
Blue Sun, thank you for your service to our country. It's a shame that the Corp is still so backwards towards women.
