I was still working back then....and I was the type who never called in sick. But, that day I had an unusually bad late-summer cold, and I called off work. I fell back to sleep after calling in.....when I woke up a while later, the TV was on....the first tower had already been hit and was on fire. I couldn't make sense out of it.....being so sick and half-asleep.
My DH was at work. Our daughter was still living at home. I called out to her....and she came next to me and we were watching TV as the second plane hit the second tower. We just gasped in horror.....news people were scrambling, thinking maybe there was an air controller enormous mistake.......no one could have imagined something like it really was.
This really hit my daughter and I very hard, as she and I lived right outside of NYC for a year when she was just 6 years old. We LOVED going into the city....and we were in the towers....all the way to the top....on more than one occasion. We could not believe our eyes.
And the rest is history.
God bless all the families, friends, coworkers,...of the victims....forever. And may God bless each of us, and our country, and our world......that such huge horrific inhumanity does not happen again.
And like you said, Barb....God was with us yesterday, He will be with us tomorrow, and He will be with us for always. Without His help, I could do nothing. I thank Him for all His blessings and protection.....and I pray He blesses you all as well.
Photos of us standing on the top, looking out at the city.....Haunting now...
Many times, I've been in those twin towers. Sat at the top in the restaurant and had lunch. Listening to the 911 calls from the staff trapped inside, breaks my heart, to this day. I can't listen to them anymore.
God Bless all those who died that day. It was not just Americans. It was an attack on many Countries at once that had citizens in those buildings and on those planes.
GOD BLESS AMERICA AND ALL COUNTRIES INVOLVED. WE WILL NEVER FORGOT and hopefully we will NEVER let this happen again!
