I think nothing learned is useless. Even if it is a subject we 'think' we will never use it is practice for the brain to 'learn'. W/o this practice our brains are not taught how to learn things that we then consider 'important'.
I am a teacher.... sorry! Even tho I think learning grammar (not writing) is stupid!

I would say algebra but I loved and still love learning all sorts of things and as you say Sunvalley it is good to exercise our brains. I lost my short term memory from about the age of 15 onwards gradually until I could no longer learn anything. At 19 I had brain surgery to remove what they call an AVM which was causing my memory problems. A few months later I went to a rehabilitation centre and was told that my memory as it was then would probably never improve and I would never be able to teach myself book-keeping which is what I wanted to do. I did a correspondence course and passed all the exams and at the age of 48 am now doing an Open University Course in English Literature so I know the importance of learning new things all the time, apparently useful or not. Still haven't found a use for the algebra yet but I am sure there is one lol

I agree with sunvalleygal on this one. I think that although one may not like or ever use something learnt at school the acutal learning of it is a disipline that stands you in good stead in later life when you have to learn or do stuff that you don't like.

@angelglory... wow! that's great that u were able to recover and now taking university courses! We can never underestimate the power that is within us as Children of God! That's awesome!!! I think the more we learn the more "open" the world becomes to us.... no matter the subject. I still do not like grammar. lol

I am studying English Literature and I still don't get the grammar so you are not alone sunvalley, I think like maths it's something you either get or you don't and I don't get it but it shows that although it's useful it's not essential, writing is a matter of pouring out your heart, if you have to dot every i and cross every t then it doesn't flow. On top of that the computer isn't bad at correcting stuff, doesn't always work but helps.
Next part of this course is Children's Literature, looking forward to it, it starts in October, I took a year out this year so still 3 yrs to do.

in college i had a psychology professor who taught there was no god. i find that pretty useless!!!
