Using Guy as the main character
Guy's Dad is a father = 1 Father
Guy is a father and son = 1 Father/1 Son
Guy's son is the other son = 1 Son
Total is 3 people, like it says. Guy, his father, and his son = 2 fathers and 2 sons.
