In my early 20s. ... But now I like being alone. I get ansy if I do not have alone time every day. It makes me nervous and anxious if I am around ppl all the time... even my husband.

Feeling alone has been my constant side kick most all of my life. I am very isolated where we live and I go for days without seeing anyone outside of my husband and son. I don't mind and do need some alone time but this being this alone is not good for me at all.

It's strange and I don't know why, but I can feel alone, even when I am with others.

I was most alone in my teens when I was abused by my father and bullied at school and didn't really have a place I felt safe in. I do, like many of you, like my own company it is how I recharge my batteries, apparently that makes me an introvert. If you recharge your batteries by spending time with people it makes you an extrovert, it's not a matter of how quiet or loud you are.

Oh, I felt very alone in my teen years. I also feel alone a lot now as an empty nester. I do love being alone now but also wish I had a best friend.

I've been alone all my life, like angelglory. Similar story. I really felt most alone a year ago when I had to move my entire apartment by myself and no one would help me.

I've felt most alone the last 5 years, since health problems forced me to quit my Church Organist job. I can't go out to movies, or take classes, or do most social things because of my trouble sitting. I do eat out with hubby, and sometimes with my girlfriend, if I can last for an hour. He still works, back in his home office, so I thank God that he's around to talk to. It was hard to leave our 40 choirmember friends and suddenly become someone who is usually in the living room or kitchen, alone.

On the other hand, I've learned to be alone much better, and have spent a lot of this time reading spiritual books and getting closer to God. Sometimes I don't mind being alone at all, it's kind of nice, but I do miss having interesting things to tell hubby about what different friends are up to, where they went, just interesting tidbits. I like to kid around, and love to make people laugh, so that's a lot tougher to pull off in my present situation. : )
