We have been kicking around a "Border Bash" between GA and FL. Loran and I tossed, after Geezer Golf in Vegas, and it looks like heads I win, tails he lost, so Georgia won out. I am dying to go to Savannah. It sound so great. Someone on the main board suggested Atlanta - especially the aquarium. Any interest? Anyone know hotels? Just kicking it around. Suggestions would be welcome.
Vicki, check on flights first. The trip to Iowa, is so expensive to fly because, it's such a small town, without an International airport. Does Savannah have a large airport? I've always wanted to go there. I think my mom and sisters are going to drive there with their dogs in October. Spring time would be great.
Savannah is so nice, I also LOVE it. Paula, when I flew from Chicago last year it was on a small plan, like maybe 30 passengers. The airport is small as well, but not tiny. I guess it is where a lot of people going to Hilton Head fly into.
I understand there is a huge very nice hotel across from the Aquarium in Atlanta--evidently you can walk direct from the hotel to the Aquarium under a covered walkway of some sort---not sure what else is close but it sounded promising to me because I DON'T like to drive in traffic. I pulled it up online months back and although I don't remember the name of it I do remember it had a restaurant and a number of other amenities within the hotel campus itself.
Would You be Thinking, of the Hilton Garden Inn? It's right across the Street from the Aquarium. From what I have Read, everything, right around the Aquarium, is very Safe, Walkable and lots to do.
The only time, I ever spent the Night in Atlanta, was when, My Connecting Flight out of there, was Cancelled, for no apparent reason. No Flight for Me, but they did find a Flight for My Luggage and sent it on Ahead. What?
Delta was nice. They gave Me a Toothbrush, a T-Shirt, to Sleep in and sent Me off to a Run Down, Hotel, out by the Airport. A Part of Town, I don't think, even the Cops, went to. I was by Myself.
Bottom Line - I Survived.
I could do Atlanta.
I hope we have some place that will be easy to fly to as it will be a long trip from the NW---as those of you had to make to Vegas--I have to set vacation time at work for the summer by end of February for the whole summer---crazy I know, but that's the way it is. I haven't been in the South ever so I have no input---just excitement for the possibility of meeting again.

Jekyll Island, GA ( check it out ) Close to Florida Georgia border. Both of these areas are extremely humid during the summer months. Definitely a Winter Wonderland
