Sharing a true story
About a weeks ago me, my sister and a friend were driving to church. As we were going down the street we saw a homeless person propped up in a uncomfortable position on a planter We all thought something is wrong. I turned the car around and we checked on him. 2 other cars stopped and the ladies got out. I lady had a banana in case he was diabetic. The other lady called the ambulane. We checked for a pulse and respiration because he was unconscious. Then we chatted among each other about being headed to church. One lady who belonged to a completly different church then us said we are prayer warriors we should be praying over him which we did. It was the first time I ever did it in public and wondered to myself why I didnt think to pray over him. The lady with the banana and the lady on the phone said they would not have got out of the car if the 3 of us werent there for extra support in a potentially dangerous situation. The ambulance arrived and we left. As we circled the block a few mintes later the man was alert, responsive and looking very well(This was from competely unresponive despite shaking him repeatedly).
The next day I asked my priest why I didnt think to pray over him. He told me we all had different roles and that what makes a community. If a human being had all noses it wouldnt work. It needs hands, legs, ears etc. I am still looking for my legs and hands and many other parts on this board. All of us can be the soul. Please make this community a supportive loving one with all the body parts so everyone of us can be healthy mind body and spirit Amen P.S A week later I prayed in a parking lot with a dear friend who is struggling to rebuild his life after wrestling with many demons including addiction and incarceration. That lady reminded me praying is the most important part of healing. Amen
