WIDOWS AND WIDOWERS OF FAITH Community Group
A place where people of faith may freely discuss issues of grief from a faith based perspective.

I don't believe that I have ever posted on this site. I occasionally comment on the Widows and Widowers site and read comments on this one but have not felt the need to post. I am interested in what responses I am may have to one thing that I struggle to accept here seven years after my husband passed away. In late 2007, I lost my mother. In 2009, I lost my 41-year-old niece to brain cancer. In March 2010, I lost my husband; and in November 2010, my youngest brother. In 2011, my oldest brother passed away. In 2013, my younger brother's wife passed away (she was my last connection to my brother). In 2015, I lost my oldest brother's wife, someone who I had grown very close to after my brother's death. Last year, I lost my sister. Now, I am the only remaining sibling. I know God has a plan for all of us; although I know we all have to face other losses, I struggle so much with God taking my entire family away from me and in such a short period of time. I look around me, and other families are intact or have only suffered one or two losses; and I am so alone. I am in my mid-sixties, never imagined that I would be in this situation, and would feel so abandoned by God. I struggle with the big question of "Why?" I am just trying to understand. Roxanne

Old Hillbilly Wisdom:Your fences need to be horse-high, pig-tight and bull-strong.Keep skunks, bankers, and politicians at a distance.Life is simpler when you plow around the stump.A bumble bee is considerably faster than a John Deere tractor.Words that soak into your ears are whispered, not yelled. The best sermons are lived, not preached. If you don't take the time to do it right, you'll find the...

My sister is very devout in her faith and quite fearless when it comes to life in general. She has sought every aggressive treatment possible but ultimately has made up her mind to surrender to Gods will whatever that my be. When I faced my initial cluster of 4 deaths that destroyed my world I turned away from God in anger for many months and felt nothing but more pain and restlessness. Then one day I finally decided to surrender to Gods will(Not easy to do in practise) and yes ever so gradually peace returned to my life. God loves us. He doesn't want to see us suffer. Why my cluster happened I will never understand. Why my sister has a tumour in her brain I will never understand. Why I was born in North America rather than poverty in Africa I will never understand. There are many many many things in life I will never understand. What I do know with all my heart is God is loving and I trust him. Surrendering to his will is the most difficult part of our faith journey but when we try to we move closer and closer to him and nothing is more beautiful then that, When Jesus died on the cross many people of that time didn't understand why a innocent man had to died. Yet that sacrifice saved the world from sin for those that open there heart to God. The Why question challenges us to ask another question. Do we trust God?
Sending A Big Canadian hug your way. Thank you for posting such a important question. God bless. Gerry
Dad died, my husband 10 months later & then Mom 2 years later.
We aren't given answers we desire many times, that's when we trust our Lord for guidance/strength
