Since my wife went to be with God, I have noticed something about being alone most of the time.

When I get home from anywhere I walk in and the silence is so loud it's deafining. If I don't make a sound it takes over everything. I have never heard such a loud sound as this silence. Since my wife's voice doesn't float around our home like before there is such a loud sound. And it's silence.

The other is emptiness. It's so big it takes over my entire home. Barely room for me. I never knew emptiness could take up so much space. It's like it has a life of it's own. I move thru it any time I walk thru the house. I have to push it out of my way to move room to room. It has taken over evey little nook and cranny. There is something bigger than me in my home and it's name is emptiness.

In this silence I have heard a voice. It has gotten louder over time. It has started to take over the silence in my head. It continues to remind me that there is hope and even though I get discouraged at times and let the flesh take over my thinking, it is still in control. This voice has a name and it is God.

The emptiness has begun to fill up with something bigger. Something that fills the spaces and makes a path for me to move forward and continue to heal thru it all. This something has begun to remind me that this is my home and that I have an inner strength that will shine a light on this emptiness and drive away the darkness. This light that has begun to fill the emptiness with warmth and continued hope has a name and it is Faith.

I am still getting used to the emptiness though I sense God's presence when the feeling gets overwhelming. "He never leaves us or forsakes us." ((Hugs))

I didn't think about this before I read your post Tim,.........I realize, God is in my life completely. I can't think of living my life without, salvation in Jesus Christ, the Author and finisher of my faith. My Faith makes me whole.

God is who we really at this time in our lives, grieving our loves of our lives. I too am at the point, where it's god;s will, not my own. I'm ok, and I know Sean would be glad, I'm going to carry on, in his memory, and make the rest of what is left of my life, peaceful, less anxious, enjoyable, and most of all, that god has reached out to me, and is carrying me along the way. Emptiness Tim is only a temporary visitor, Eventually as you said Faith and yes inner peace will ultimately take over. The silence is actually the path to the inner peace because it provides a very special opportunity to be intimate with God. You have come so far my friend. I am truly proud of you.

Seems like such a long time ago when I first found this site. It truly came along at the perfect time in my life. I feel like we all have come so far and been involved in each other's growth. I am glad that everyone is still moving forward. My prayer is that we can all find that new life our spouses would want for us to have.

Tim sometimes the sound is a deafening thunder. It's a reason I played so much music to fill the silence. Of the many songs I found I post some here, some on another page I am active with, but it is almost always in the background now. I admit to needing it. Hugs and support Tim.

One such song....I still have some conversations never finished with a year to prepare before losing John. But I must be truthful the words always came easily, many times even one word stirring a thousand more. The words could have lasted forever, and maybe I still want more. Such is love.
