The last time I spoke to my father I told him to call me if he ever needed anything. That's before he said that horrible remark about my marriage.

Now, I'm glad I told him that. Whereas we can never have a personal relationship again, I can provide for things he may need. Things such as a drive to the hospital, or picking up something he needs. And after I'm done, I go home. It's as simple as that. It is something I would do for a stranger.

Forgiving him came easy too, so thanks for all the prayer. I've forgiven him. I've moved on. I'm still upset with what he said, but I won't let the words eat at me. Instead, I'll treat them the way I would if a friend spoke them. I'd listen, but do what I won't to do with no regard to their opionion. And it wouldn't stop me from remaining cordial with them. It's there opionion. They're entitled to it. I know the truth and that's all that matters.

So, I love my father. Not the personality traits, but he will not change. So, it's up to me. I have to change. That means limiting my interaction with him. That means not calling him everyday(his idea) and being the adult who comes home to her separate life. It means growing up on my part. I'm not Daddy's little girl anymore. He can't protect me anymore. So I'm like the character in Now Voyager who comes home to a domineering mother, but who is also her own woman. And she let's her mother know this.

So what does the future hold? I pray for the best it can be.
