WIDOWS AND WIDOWERS OF FAITH Community Group
A place where people of faith may freely discuss issues of grief from a faith based perspective.
I changed my mind and went to the graduation last night. A pastor from another church was the guest speaker. He spoke about circles. He asked each graduate to draw a perfect circle, and as hard as they tried, they could not. Then he gave each of them a compass, and they were able to draw the perfect circle. The dot in the middle is God, as He must be at the center of everything in our lives. Then we must choose who else is in our circle, and we have either a large or a small circle. Godly influences should be in our circles, such as our pastors, family, etc. This is all well and good, but I got to thinking about how small my circle is, and it is not by my own choice! Like they had a meal after the ceremony, and I looked around the gym for my friend, Amberly. She and her husband had left early for whatever reason, so I panicked. I wasn't about to sit there and have no one speak to me and not be included in the conversations. I left and went to Taco Bell. The truth is, there is still a stigma of being a widow - well, unless you are very well liked and outgoing. I guess I'm not. So how do I get people into my circle? It doesn't do any good to try to talk to anyone about this. They will tell me to reach out. I am reaching out already, but everyone looks the other way.
