Well, I have always had "guy friends"...men that I enjoyed spending time with in a strictly platonic way...even while I was married, I had male friends that I talked with online and by phone...my husband understood that they were just friends, nothing more...I have a friend, male, that I have enjoyed lunch with a few times after church since Snake passed, strictly as friends . Male/female interpersonal relationships do not necessarily have to lead to a sexual relationship...that is a decision that only you can make...and you'll know soon enough if that is his expectation...just be honest with him from the start....if he is a gentleman and values you as a friend, he will be respectful of your decision...

The bible clearly tells us premarital sex is not acceptable, therefore I say no. I said no before I was married to my first husband. I said no after I divorced my first husband. I said no when I met my late husband. We both said no when we divorced and we both said yes when we were reunited in marriage.

The world will tell you that this is old fashioned, that times have changed. I say the bible didn't have an expiration date on it. It's the same then, and it's the same now. Premarital sex is wrong and it's wrong for a reason. Look at the pain caused by it. Look at the women and men married to people they can't trust.

I once had a friend who asked why I didn't sleep around. I told her that I would, but it's just that I hadn't met a man I was willing to go to hell for. But when I did, I would say yes. Needless to say, she got the message.

Another one to agree with Tru. Unfortunately, some men don't get this. The men my age think dating and sleeping around is one in the same. If you find someone that you click with on the friendship side of the scale, you might have to let him know that you are a Christian and you are not going to have an affair with him. One of two things will happen. Either he will so totally respect you, or he will take a hike. Either way, you are the winner.

You are right about what the Bible says. It talks about younger widows, vs, older widows, and suggests that if young widows want and need a sex life that they should marry and not "burn with lust". I don't think it would be easy for younger men with a strong sex drive to deal with that kind of relationship, but sometimes I think it would work for older guys who also don't want or need sex and are more interested in companionship. Just my two cents worth, but you did ask. :)

I agree also, and if a man you befriend does not understand, honour and respect your values, then he is probably not someone who you would choose as a close friend, let alone anything else!

I have always had this opinion - that if you want to meet someone compatible with you as a friend or as a potential future partner, go where people LIKE YOU go. If you go regularly to gambling places, you'll most likely meet a gambler. If you bar hop, you'll most likely find someone whose main enjoyment is alcohol. If you go to a wilderness camp, you'll most likely meet people who enjoy the wilderness. My dear husband always told me what his mother said to him. "Go to church and find a good girl." He went to bars, golf clubs, sailboating, card playing, etc. and never met "the one". In desperation, he went to a singles group at a church and met me. From our first day together, we were a couple, just meant for each other. Our faith was our strongest connection. His mom got to live just long enough to meet me and know that Jesus was the center of our relationship. I promised her I would take care of Joe and never leave him. I kept that promise. Lust and materialism do not make for a lifelong loving, healthy relationship. Friendship with Christ at the center is the relationship that will last a lifetime.
