WIDOWS AND WIDOWERS OF FAITH Community Group
A place where people of faith may freely discuss issues of grief from a faith based perspective.
I posted on the W/W board refering to trying to adjust to sleeping in our half empty bed. That's how I still see the bed my late wife and I shared over 21 yrs.
But something strange has been going on for the last several weeks that I wanted to wait and post here; being a faith based board.
For the past several weeks when I get in from work and go into the bedroom to change clothes I have noticed something. Folks are probably going to think I'm losing my mind. But it's still true all the same. I have found every morning the covers on my wife's side of the bed turned down the way she left them when she would get up in the mornings. I thought at first that our little dog we had just gotten before her leaving was jumping on the bed and playing. But it's only on her side and they are turned back as if someone had just gotten up. I'm not afraid or even get the feeling there is something I should fear. But it happens on the days I work. On my off days nothing happens.
I've had people freak out when I tell them that my mother in law passed in the middle bedroom in 2003. And now my wife in the same home in 2015. They get that look on their face as if I'm living in a haunted house. I don't believe in those things. But I do believe God allows our loved ones to visit us when it's His will to do so. And everytime I see the cover turned down I think she's been here again. Over the last 2 years Linda has visited me at various times. But it has always been when I've been so down I couldn't function and just prayed unti I couldn't pray no more.
My grief is no where near the level it was. Now it has become a ligering yearning for her. But in reality I have accepted Linda is home where she is suppose to be. I think my biggest break thru was one night on the porch I was praying and meditating. Then the obvious came to me. What I thought all during our time together wasn't true. I had always thought Linda would be the one I would spend the rest of my life with. But obviously I had to reevaluate what I alwys believed to be true. It never was God's will for Linda to be with me the remainder of my life. She was however with me the rest of her life. And she fullfiled her wedding vows. But now, I'm thinking, if not Linda then who?? Who has God planned to spend the remainder of my life with, if anybody.
And who will I have by my side at night for the rest of my life? It's all His will and I will always hang onto that no matter how rough it gets. He is always in control.
I guess until then I will continue to come in and find the covers on Linda's side of the bed turned down. And you konw I truly find comfort in that.
Peace everyone, Tim
