I rarely post on this site as I am very, very uncomfortable sharing my feelings, but I read messages every single day and I am so grateful for all of you who provide encouragement and love for fellow widows and widowers. I am approaching the 4th anniversary of my dear husband’s passing and the weeks leading up to April 7th are still so very painful. I was a very active church goer when he died and after his death I continued to take my father each Sunday. But when my father passed away in 2014 I stopped attending church as it no longer held any meaning for me. Since I still relied heavily on the Lord I started watching TV church services every Sunday. This morning the TV choir sang the beautiful hymn We are God's People and 2 parts hit me hard.

He wills us be a family, diverse yet truly one
O let us give our gifts to God, and so shall his work on earth be done.

O let us live transparently
And walk heart to heart and hand in hand.

It made me realize how much I depend on all of you to keep going in this awful solo journey. I appreciate all of you for sharing your "gifts" of encouragement and allowing me to walk with you. Thank you, thank you.

I'm proud of you for posting here. It's great that you did something outside of your comfort zone, it takes courage.

I also read pretty much everyday. DS is keeping me sane. I am a bit shy about posting. I too watch TV church services and am grateful for them. One hymn I have been hearing quite a bit lately is Great is thy Faithfulness. It is very comforting! (Hug)

I want to thank you so much for posting such a nice message. When I first joined DS I to was uncomfortable posting but got used to it over time. I know there are many people who visit here and dont post which is fine. Hopefully it is a place of healing in whatever form works best for each individual. I am just passed 3 years and will have good periods and times where I still struggle. I do know with all my heart it is my faith which allows me to keep moving forward. I took a quick look at your profile. I see we are from the same part of Canada. Sometimes the world is such a small place. God bless and thanks again for such a positive message. Gerry

Hi Linda. I am also approaching my fourth year. PTSD has complicated my grieving, but I come here and post when I can. I am also stuck in the memories of the loss of my husband John's last days at times. For me it is 4/23, and I still get 23rd itis, on that day what ever month. But that is getting better. Also knowing he was a gift on loan helps.

I know he is better now, so that helps. I started community college to help me understand why of my life and how to help others that may have had a few of the same "why's" in their life. I also post songs of support here that are spiritual, but many are newer in context and artists. I hope you listen to a few. They give me strength and resolve to use the gifts I have received. I have shared a lot of my own art here in my journey but it is only a portion of my overall compositions.

Sunday mornings that are with out books are a time when I can gather some televised reinforcement, my current favorite is Joseph Prince.

Post when you can, glide when you need to.
