Sorry Dayna, hope you don't have a dream about a big green slimy guacamole tonight! I spent 6 years doing that wonderful job! The first two years I couldn't even eat beef! ha ha

Sheesh, and I live in guacamole and salsa territory!!

I love guacamole cuz it's green and slimy and tasted great. Unknown to most of ya'll I was a journey man butcher and have processed many animals, game and other wise. When I first apprenticed it took a while before meat was appealing but I got over that quickly. As Dar states there are often growths found in the product but it is just part of the job. You get over it or find another line of employment. After taking anatomy and working with cadavers, to pass the course you have to handle body parts and identify them. Bottom line the animals don't really have much over on us as we are no prize package either when we are used up. I am sharing this fine information to assure you that guacamole is a wonderful product and worthy of our consumption. Meat is up to the eye of the beholder. I choose to partake of high end, humanely raised meat products while Lady D slaughters vegetables for her table fare. I share many items from her wonderful
cooking skills as she does a very wonderful job of preparing delicious food. And I enjoy most all of it.

And avocados are very healthy for us!! Sliced up with a bit of seasoned salt...or in a salad....yum! It's the appearance of things and our perception of them that can gag us. I am probably the only person in the world that never has, and never will eat a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. Am not going to say what it looks like to me! LOL Darlene

You girls (and boys) are too f'n funny for words!! Isn't it interesting what turns us "on" and then what turns us "off"? Life does it's thing on our psychology, that's for sure. I don't eat meat, of any variety. One day, I'll share the story of the whys and committment, but I can assure you it doesn't have anything to do with a quac looking abscess on a side of beef! (Perhaps more in the variety of worms?) YAK, again. Thank god I'm not pregnant or I would have been yakking all day over this discussion!

Okay, so my thing of the veggie variety (as I am a vegetarian) that I absolutely cannot tolerate are only two-fold . . . green peas and lima beans. YAK. It's like "do ya wanna throw up?" . . okay, forget the syrup of ipecac and OTC Pepto-dismal (misspelled on purpose)! . . Just put a bowl of lima's in front of me and I promise to throw up for you!

Hmm . . how did we get on this subject Michele? Oh, that's right . . it was a daily "inspiration"? Now we are all sick!! WTH? We've been ambushed by an outsider!!~

OMG . . I'll negate all the above!! Joking! I will stay with my vegetarian diet, (slaughtering vegetables) . . but what he didn't say is that I pray while slaughtering! LOL Well, not funny, but I do have a silent memorial service for every living thing I may kill to consume. Part of my initial heritage of being Cherokee. We totally give thanks for each and everything, while using each and everything. For instance . . when I cut my veggies (whilst giving thanks in my mind and heart) . . I preserve the remains for the garden, the compost. They go back to help re-create the next growth cycle. Oh . . and as far as being a vegetarian . . if I had to eat meat to survive, I totally would . . as in I believe the animal gives up it's life to sustain human life. The problem is . . in our current day society, we harvest meat in a horrible way . . we shoot up with hormones, we cage, we feed vegetarian animals with meat (often of their own variety, as in cannibalism), and we wonder why people get sick? We wonder why there's mad-cow disease? We wonder where cancer comes from and all sort of sicknesses??? Okay, let me off my soap-box.

PB&J! Not better to be found. Not good for my blood sugar, but the bread sheriff trys to keep an eye on me.

Oh Dayna, how wonderful of you to honor your Cherokee heritage! Harv and I attended Elderhostel programs at several Native American nations, and I was always struck by their respect for earth and all of its beings. If only the immigrants to this country (who turned out to be terrorists) would have worked with the native people and learned from them, what a wonderfully different country we would have now! I'd better not get started on that one! Big hugs to all, and Dewey, if I'm ever at your house, please don't serve me pb&j.
