Hi Dayna, I'm so glad you didn't leave entirely. We all need all the help/friends we can get. While both PJ & I do believe in God and life after death we were not church goers. Having been raised Catholic and then lapsed PJ's church was the great outdoors. He was spiritual in his own way. He loved life, family and adventure. I try to honor his memory by holding dear everything he cherished. I believe there is more to life than we will ever know or experience. I want to be open to new ideas, new ways of thinking. To listen to what others have to say/offer, especially when it's something different. I look forward to seeing where this group goes. Hugs, Liz

Ya know what mcliz? I also look forward to where this site will go!! I totally align myself with your husband's thinking . . "the great outdoors is everything"!! I am spiritual, as are many here . . yet not wanting to align with any one religion. We do love our life and our family! We don't have to resign ourselves to a particular belief or religion to be happy and content!! Yes, we are open . . continue to be open. We learn from others . . differing thought or similar. I suppose the original point of this new site is to accept each other, learn from each other (if we can) . . "Live and Let Live". I can't put into words how happy I am that you're still here (as if you didn't know;)! I am also a lapsed Catholic, Lloyd was raised Methodist. My first experience with the havoc religion can wreak was when his parents refused to attend our wedding in a Catholic church. That was back when the church had me in its clutches and I knew I would go straight to hell if we married in a different place. Lloyd had to become Catholic before we married. We later left the church and tried others. But we realized we were not organized religion folks. We found spirituality to be a better fit. Lloyd was the most kind, generous and loving man. The kind of man many Christians claim to be, but are not. I know that whatever afterlife there is, he is in the happy one.

Straight to Hell?? Really? I'd like to meet tohse people that wreck havock and shame those and say "straight to hell"!?? What is so amazing is that most are proclaimed Christians . . yet do not play by Christ's rules! Then, we have the sheeple, that are simply non-thinking, and led to the masses of injustice so easily. I'm not sure whether to twist my head here, pray or be offended!! Goofie is as goofy does. No easy answers in this life, unless one protects themselves from others thoughts . . but then, what is the point? How do we grow if we stay in our comfort zone? I, for one, will gladly stretch beyond to grow . . however, I will utilize my inner voice of reason to keep me grounded. Peace to all . . xo, D

What I find most disturbing in conversation is when people bring up their "God" and tell me that it will be okay as long as I believe. Without any regard for how I believe or who I believe in.

If you ask me to say a prayer for you or your loved one's I find that easy to do. To whom I'm praying to is not important to the conversation and shouldn't be questioned by anyone.

Being kind to one another should not be based on any of our belief systems.

I want to be your friend and will NOT base my friendship on whether you do or do not believe in any God. I won't lay any trips on you if you don't lay any on me.

I am comforted by your friendship alone. Thank you for that.
