You know, Roz stirred up an interesting discussion in Scotito's What I like topic. I have to say, it was handled more nicely than I expected.

I just read the post you are referring to slimbear. You are so right.....it was certainly handled nicely. Could there be a little more tolerance there do you think? I occasionally still check on that forum but do not feel at all comfortable posting. I see there are a lot of new names. Many more of us on this "journey". :-(

Does anyone here have specific plans for the New Year? I'm going to try volunteering once again. I used to do a lot of it with the local zoo, burro sanctuary, etc. Have not for several years now. Going to try the AARP group. I had lunch with them a couple of times and they all seem pretty friendly and open, so we will see. I really NEED something to be passionate about.

hgsdms, as you saw, a number of people admitted they had been mad at God and had to work through that somehow. Even a new message today. Very helpful for people in that frame of mind.

I am still here also. The past eight months have been true agony, however for some unknown reason I have made it this far. I try to not look too far into the future though as it is too frightening. Have I changed, yes, not sure whether for better or worse, but life as I knew it will never be the same. I am so blessed to have three kids, two grands and another on the way. Their lives are totally hectic for sure. Without them there would really be no reason to even want to go on. Yet it's bitter sweet because he is the reason they are here and it saddens me that he is missing so much. Hugs and Love to all, Michele

Hi, I'm new to this forum, I'm not much of a blogger, but I do love to read everyone's post. Can't tell you how much I have come to depend on the reading. So happy I'm not alone in my grief journey. My husband dies 12 weeks ago yesterday. He had just turned 61 on Sept 13th. He died from Lung cancer. The first few weeks I felt l had lost my balance and nothing was important . My husband and I did not have any friends. It was just him and me. Gardening was both our hobbies & we truly loved it!. We would turn on music in our yard, garden, drank a beer, bathed, cooked and watched good shows together. We enjoyed each others company. My husband did not work for the last 4 years due to back & neck injuries. So I worked (still do) the evening shift from 3pm to 11pm. Worked a lot of overtime, which when he died ,I felt very guilty of. I should have been more at home with him. He did not know he was dying. He thought he was going to beat this disease. I have read all the posts from everyone on widow and widowers. I don't know what would have been of me if not for this site. I am on meds for depression and for sleep, but other than that , all I do is work and go home and pack up/ clean so more. I have to move out soon. And as the date is getting closer I am now falling apart. I keep saying things to myself that my husband would of said to me " keep moving, don't look back" I'm still with you". you can do it" you'll be alright". But some how, giving up this home means closing the best chapter of my entire life". Is there any words to hold strength? Do I make any sense?
I really need to keep myself together. Can't fall apart now. What can I do?

slimbear, I had to write what I was feeling. The topic was throwing the worst of us to God and his healing wisdom, of which we would feel only if we believed. I can't truly say that I entirely DON'T believe, I just don't want it screamed at me!

They were very gentle with me weren't they. I think it's because they fear I'm either too weak to be attacked or too strong and I'll fight back. When the flock isn't sure they tread very lightly.

Meggy, is where you are and what you make of it. You will make a new home for you and it will reflect the very best of you in all ways. Don't be afraid to ramble, sometimes we figure out our most complicated voyages when we ramble out loud or write it down. You will keep yourself together and get through this.

Nobody is giving up. Period. We walk this grief journey together and together we shall overcome! As for this secular group . . we will rebuild it. Please, don't give up . . . there is too much to live for and achieve! Just remember . . others do not have the market on "believers" . . . we are believers also! We believe in ourselves and each other . . we believe in many, many things that make sense to us! We don't need to be preached to . . we are individuals, thinking individually at times, yet come together as like minded others at often times. Hallelujah (own it) and take that to others' that proclaim to be "believers"; yet not know exactly what they believe in, other than what they are taught. We are movers and shakers in our own world. We are "golden". Never forget your self worth and never forget your power! We were born perfect . . . and we live our perfectionism. Yes, we may flounder from time to time . . but we "know" ourselves.

A loving god! What a disconnect that is! We are in our own boat that we feel we belong in. If I'm wrong in my opinion may I be adrift in what ever sphere I wind up in. A crutch is what many people need to believe that they have a reason for living. I personally do not need to feel that I have anything after this time on earth and I do not need a bunch of people telling me that they are smarter than I and do not know bullshit when it is presented in any fashion. My f'd opinion to many but where I stand.
