I have a motorized chair so I used a wheelchair lift and full size van. I tried a mini van once. The ewhole I was in it I was praying to God that if he allow to survive the ride I would never get in one again. So far I have been true to my word. I can't drive( I tried but my disablilty is too bad) so my mom drives me where I need to go. that realy limits because even though we have fixed where other can drive my vehicle they will not

I would love to be able to drive again, sadly I cannot afford a hand controlled vehicle. I would need to be able to get my chair in behind the wheel as well. So I have to rely on the Transportation system to get around the buses here only hold two chairs so if there are two on board then you have to wait for the next bus 30 mints usually. Or we have Paro Transpo you phone the day before and the van comes and loads you on and you pay to get around to your destination the fee is always $6.00 unless you want to go outside the city limits. Oh Joy, $6.00!!! Where oh where do you live...I live in Austin, Tx. and we have Special Transit. A bus(small) that you call the week/day before you need to go anywhere and they will tell you what time they will pickup and ask what time you want to go home. The bus carries 3 chairs and aprox. 16 people. Would you believe it only cost 60 cents each way. My sister has a wheelchair van that we had equipped with a lift and tie downs. She takes me to dr appts and shopping, etc. The gas being so much we sometime take the Special Traansit.

Yes,this post kinda angers me..As a advacate of ,and a worker for people with disabilities,and years of fighting for more access,and consideration for people with disabilities.I ran a mini bus here in my town,and it seemed like the garage made more money than the service itself.There should always be a proper bus system ran by the governments,that dont make people wait for anouther bus ect...Do others have to wait for the next available bus?
On a lighter note,a Hiunda delership gives a brand new alantra to free ride families to hospatals ect...if more high profite buisnesses ,along with governments followes suit,it would be problem solved.

I am looking at a affordable custome wheelchair shop where people who need a comfortable chair with practical options.The medical industry here holds all the cards in wheelchair manufacturing.I want to change that,with a wheelchir frame and custome shop that is independant. from government conttrolled factories.

good for you! maybe i should look into hand controls if i ever get another vehicle. it would be nice to further my independence. :)

I'm in an electric scooter. I can walk a short while after I load the scooter on the back of the car to get to the front of the car, but too much longer and I fall.
