How David changed my life when I saved him

This is from a resonse to one of Sane's articles, but felt good enough for a topic.
Whe we save a life that life changes our life. Why? It gives us more purpose and confidnce to continue helping others.
A friend of mine was in deep depression and had no self-esteem. He expressed to me deep sadness one night A week before his parents had just divorced and he lft home, took a plane and showed up at my apartment in college. I offered him to stay for a few months until he found a job and saved money to move on his own. That night I asked him how he felt. He told me he was worth nothing and that he did not know what to do. I told him that he was an incredible person, a great friend, son, etc.. I gave examples of why I had high esteem of him and how we all perceived. He took a deep breathe and stared cruing. I held him on my shoulders for nearly 10 minutes while he calmed down. Next day, eh was out finding a job and applying for college. Three months later he moved out.
How he helped me... He is straight. Handsome. I was hiding in the closet. I fell in love with him, but he never knew. In the three months he lived with me he gave me a purpose to continue the fight. I was hiding cronic depressions, but his company help me a great deal. I overcame depression and ecame a happy person during his stay with me. He saved me as much as I saved him.
Becuase of experiences like this I ask that you all open up to those wanting to help. We need you as much as you need us. Those of you suffering need to let us help them. We can amazing things to improve your lives..... and you can change ours!!

its amazing how someone can come in and help..I knew someone I didnt agree with something they would do I made it plain it was not the way to be and we use to have some rows over it..some rows were terrible..we went separate ways but funniest thing was I found myself in a situation not a very good one..I hadnt seen them for a least two years but our paths crossed.. what they did I will never forget..they stepped in..they didnt seem worried about the trouble they could of got into which they would have..I said thankyou the said thats what friends are for..I still wont agree with what they do..they made me smile as they gave me this look and sang a song which they knew would wind me up..but it amazing who comes through when you are most in need.
