Is he or she a sociopath or psychopath? Think we're only talking about serial killers here? Psychopaths, sociopaths and even narcissists come in every walk of life, every career level, and every socio-economic category.

I honestly feel that people look at me like I have two horns growing out of my head when I tell them what I have been through, there are not many I confide in but for good reason. There is still much stigma toward people who have been abused. It's like abuse is a disease they might catch if they talk to you.

Has anyone else felt this way? I find it very isolating

People can not comprehend this.

I don’t feel any stigma against me for being abused, maybe I should, rather I feel like people don’t/can't believe what I know about him. 'What? That nice, charming, smiling guy? No, he would never. No, he wouldn’t say that...'

People are lucky if they find this incomprehensible because it is. We only get it because we had the misfortune to experience it – but we have also survived it.

Thank you my friend,yes many think my ex partner very charming and I think they do not want to believe that relationships could be so destructive.I find close friends and family have made me many times depressed because they do not believe me, it is only those of us who have been through this experience that truly understand.

Today I spoke with a friend who lives out of the country and I told her what happened, what my husband has done ans said. Her first response: He did the same thing to you that he did to his first family although you didn’t know it.

She's exactly right.

Not everyone finds them charming. Some people see right through them. My sisters did not at first, but one of them has come around. And now we see right through them too.
