Victims of Psychopaths Community Group
Is he or she a sociopath or psychopath? Think we're only talking about serial killers here? Psychopaths, sociopaths and even narcissists come in every walk of life, every career level, and every socio-economic category.
'we were on and off for about 2 years....he discarded me so many times but I kept breaking NC and kept going back to him'
Sometimes we have to go round the ride several times before we realize that we are not dealing with *normal* behaviour. If you are a genuinely caring, trusting individual, then the psychopath will exploit these (good) qualities to the fullest. Abusive people tend to display behaviour patterns (they go round in circles) .. these patterns are easily recognised once you have lived in close proximity with an anti-social for a length of time. Hence why relationships with them tend to be on-off .. it's important to them that you remain slightly off balance and never altogether sure where you truly stand. If this behaviour is allowed to persist, a trauma bond will be formed with your abuser (you need to read up on this to find the answer to why you are closely bonded to someone who repeatedly hurts you).
