how do i deal with psychopaths in public places? ones who dont know you.
i notice theres alot of self entitled selfish people out there, i will bet most of them are psychopaths. and those people who have no concern for others and they dont care about the wellbeing of anyone around them,.
its easy to spot them out, the rude psychopaths who dont care about others, but it is easier for them to spot you out because they have a radar to detect nice kind empathetic people.
they zone in on the empaths.
im an empath and im a kind helpful intelligent person. ive done many nice things for others...
but when i go out in public im usually approached by one or more psychopaths who think they can terrorize me.
they go up to me like they own me. then they yell at me and terrorize me, or insult me or try to humiliate me, or do gaslighting, and they get angry and get into rages some days.
they laugh at me too.
i have a medical disease so i look tired and they can tell im defense less and not going to fight back. i look like a perfect victim.
and i have large kind eyes that they can see that i have a soul and that probably gets them angry, that itself probably provokes them.
how do they find me , i dont know. but its getting crazy i dont know if the world is getting meaner but everywhere i go there are random people being rude to me.
if i go into any store or fast food place or resturant there is usually one or more employees or customer service people there making fun of me , laughing at me or insulting and accusing me of things. they get angry at me and lash out at me by yelling sometimes. even tho they dont know me and all i am is a customer
if they are working in customer service with people why would they do that if they have antisocial personality disorder. i guess it helps them get more disposable supply?
its weird alot of psychopaths work with people or where they need to interact with people or be in charge of things.
they see me as available convenient supply. but i dont want to be mistreated i want to be left alone to go about the day and do what i need to.
if i go into a resturant or food store or drugstore i dont want to be bullied and harrased by psychopathic employees. even the managers sometimes have displayed psychopathic and viscous behavior to me such as angry rages and no personal boundaries
how do i protect myself next time from psychopathic store employees, managers, and customer service people who approach me and go out of their way to go up to me and harrass me to a point of me crying.
the harrasment they do is so bad that it gets me to cry. complaining to managers didnt help because usually the psychopathic employees are well liked by the managers since they are manipulative and alot of times the store managers themselves have been psychopaths
alot of times its group wolf pack mentality where one store employee will make fun of me and then egg the other employees on to join them to make fun of me and make rude comments to me
because they think they will be popular at work if they join harassing me.
its not ok, what can i do? im too nice? do you have to be tough with these people? theyve done crazy things to me. they did things like throw my change from the register at my feet instead of hand me the money. then laugh at me infront of me as i struggled to pick it up. because i have mobility trouble so i have trouble bending
its at almost every place i go to. how do i get them to leave me alone? any way to get tough with them?

i can go out on my own but i walk slow like a senior citizen and i stop to take breaks from walking and i walk bent over, sometimes almost losing my balance but a cane wouldnt help i dont want to use one. and i have fibromyalgia pain and also trouble bending down. but otherwise i can get around fine. but more like a slow elderly person and not like a person my age.
so even without the eye contact they can see from how i walk and move and bent over that im helpless.
so they go out of their way to make my struggle worse for me and make my day worse.
they like to accuse me of all types of things, especially managers who accuse me of shoplifting alot of times and they go through my bag or yell at me and treat me like a criminal when i did nothing wrong. im not the type of person to shoplift but they cause me trouble because they think its funny because im disabled.
they like to anounce that ive shoplifted infront of customers in a store and people are staring and dont know if what they said is true. even tho i never stole anything in my life. theyre trying to embarrass me
its against my religion to steal.
theyve searched through my bags and i told them to check the security camera and they find each time that i never stole... and then i saw one time the employee who accused me to her manager laughing to herself she thought it was funny and she knew she was lying on purpose to her manager.
i dont know how to deal with these people but its very scary and makes me nervous if it keeps happening and it does. most of the time i go out it happens. and im very nervous about it . im too nervous thinking of going anywhere.
it replays in my mind and it gets to my self esteem like why do they hate me
i dont know what signal i send out. but i dont feel well and am struggling to go by my day and buy the things i need and i mind my own business and im polite and not assertive
im genetically related to psychopaths in my family but i dont know if it has to do with that. if they cal tell ive been victimized in my past
In personal life events, I inform the person of my value and say I'm not going to stand for it. I've noticed people are often surprised and thrown off balance if they are confronted with their rudeness. I don't mean confronted in a mean way. You can always be yourself, but just let them be aware you will not be apart of such behavior.
My son's barber is a bully. I used to hate going to get a hair cut. (Before anyone says go somewhere else, there is no one else) The barber would often ask questions about events in my life both past and current. I have learned to turn the questions around on him. If he says what are you getting yourself into these days-I ask him what he is up to. That is a bad example of his questioning, but the only one in my head at the moment. Oh, I know, he may ask a question about my sister. He knows I don't communicate with my sister, but he does it to get a reaction out of me. So now I return the question with a question of how is your son progressing in college-without answering his question. He will then either answer or change the subject. He hates to answer questions.
Wow! I just realized I have been defending myself with what my husband does. He takes questions and turns them around. He is not as simple and direct as me, but I think I must have picked up that defense from him. I wonder if there is any data on victims of narcissists picking up the traits of their narcissist without realizing it.
It wasn't until recently that I realized who I had been married to for 18yrs. He hid himself well. Underneath he had something constantly churning that I would have to deal with or address. It wasn't until I decided to separate that he revealed some of himself to me. I was very surprised. His family that include narcissist likely were surprised. He had been veiling himself to the world as he charmed them out of what was needed and more with his innocent act. But I guess that is a different story.
Also when I go out in public, I walk with confidence. Sometimes it isn't confidence that comes from inside, but I pull it from somewhere.
Best of luck to you.
I have seen a lot of these bullies myself, maybe not directed at myself but have seen their attitude...the attitude in managers and employees...some of them being cocky and arrogant looking, sometimes I have wondered if they just look like that or "are" like that...most probably they are like that because one can sense when people are nice and friendly.
I have worked with my self esteem a little, before I was insecure, maybe a little still, but I have learned to pull out my confidence, like the other poster said here, I may not put out my confidence on the inside, but I show it on the outside. I have learned that if people are rude or if they are bullying they have own issues and insecurities. Even I am insecure I have never bullied others. Its the empath in me and which most of us have here...that we are empaths.
I agree with the others to complain about the treatment you get, if you feel this is something you wish to go further with. I just dont understand people who bully except that they have issues that has nothing to do with us, its them who have own problems. Always remember healthy people do not bully.
I have also experiences those psychopaths who intrude your space, they do size out empaths and kind people and they think that they can intrude our space with entitlement, we can see their demeanor are cocky and superior. I can see who are like this on the street or int e store about right away, their whole attitude speaks.
But as i get older and "wiser" i find that the psychic shielding is far more effective as a pre-emptive measure and instead of having a draining experience of anger and giving these sociopaths/psychopaths the reactions they crave and feed off...it diffuses them and they sort of just, i don't know, don't show up in my life. And if they still do, my head and energy is in a better place to deal with it. It's hard to explain.
Thanks for posting the zipping vid, dynamical. We need all the help we can get! I also highly recommend EFT tapping, which is based on the acupressure, the Chinese meridian system of energy. It has helped me immensely with panic attacks caused by living with a sociopath, when nothing else will calm me down. It's very easy to do and there are countless videos online that walk you through it. I understand that we all respond in different ways to different techniques, and have our favorites, but the trick is finding one that works best for you. I sometimes go along and don't practice these things when life is going smoother, then boy do I get a wakeup call and realize self care needs to be an every day habit.
Please always know in your mind and heart that there are people out there who DO care.
First, I think most people are not psychopaths, personality disordered, or bullies. I think the estimate for all personality disorders was 15% of the population. So, 85% chance the people you encounter are more or less normal. Sometimes, it only takes one and they'll rally the herd. Psychopaths and narcissists are attracted to management positions because they like to boss people around and be "one over" on them. So, if the manager is leading the way, the employees may follow even if they don't feel it is right. But in general, I would assume I am not dealing with someone without feelings. So, most people should help if you express a need for their help and for them to treat you more nicely. You might say you're having a really tired day, and looking forward to going home and putting your feet up, or some other thing that probably the people helping you are also thinking, and that will get them on your side. Or you might say you could really use their help and they could really make your day if they would help, or some thing like that that makes them feel good about helping. Most of the time, they probably just see the endless procession of customers as a drag or work, and it helps to make that personal connection.
If you really are dealing with a psychopath, I find the best thing is to be boring. I've also found that dropping eye contact invites them over to bother you, but if you can safely do so, giving them a good, strong but short stare sends them away. You no longer look easy or low risk. You want to look a little challenging, but not disrespectful. By boring, I mean, if you don't react in some entertaining way, then it will not be fun to tease you. They'll move on. Like if they throw your change on the floor, just keep on keeping on and leave it, and that's no fun for them. (I know, that whole thing is horrifying and really awful of them.) You can also ask the manager to come and pick up your change that their employee threw on the floor. With most normal people, that should stop that immediately. I would hope the manager is appalled!
You might also give some thought as to what you may be doing to start this up. For example, for me, at the worst points of getting away from my N/P and me not being in good health at the time, with PTSD too, I went to stores sometimes a bit disheveled and let's just say, the opposite of primped. I really just could not care enough to care. I noticed that when I looked bad, I was followed around and watched as if I would steal things. So, I learned not to go anywhere I did not have to unless I could make myself more presentable. If you wear a head scarf or some other thing that sets you apart, that might also start things off. But with some people, they just take advantage because they feel like it or they can, for no reason.
If anyone at a store does not treat you right, if you can and have the energy, ask for the manager. If the manager does not help you, ask for a complaint card or go to the store's website (like if it is a big chain). Often the big stores will not answer any comments, but sometimes they will. If you give them the store location, they might be able to do something, like retrain or get rid of the manager. In the meantime, you can go to a different store or come back at a different time when there is a different manager there.
So, I would escalate it and let them know I was escalating it. These days, people are tracked with customer service surveys which sometimes affects their bonus pay. So, they will have to care, even if their first reaction is not to. I bet you'll get better service. If not, go somewhere else to shop or shop online.
Also, you might ask other customers to help. I know I am often asked and am happy to do so if someone safe looking asks nicely, especially if they look like they have a need (medical, older, can't reach, etc.).
I really like dynamical's comments, which I did not know and found very interesting.
