Is he or she a sociopath or psychopath? Think we're only talking about serial killers here? Psychopaths, sociopaths and even narcissists come in every walk of life, every career level, and every socio-economic category.

I have three children by my ex who I now realise is a sociopath,after years of abuse I managed to leave and start a new life with my kids. My kids are very young and chances are (thankfully) won't remember what happened with their dad. I've been seeing a therapist and one thing that bothers me is that because I have said no contact for the kids with my ex I worry they will think I kept them from him'.
Therapist says I should never speak bad about him to my kids, I won't do this but when they are adults what if he manipulates them? Shouldn't I warn them?
Therapist agrees he shouldn't gave contact due to threats made to me and the kids. Her idea to never speak bad of him is kind of difficult for me, I know he would brainwash them given a chance and I feel that I need to let them know that there were good reasons that I raised them alone.

I disagree slightly with your therapist. I think that, just before they turn 18, or whenever he might be able to access them, you should tell them--not in graphic detail--why you chose to keep him out of their lives. Explain that he is a sociopath and explain to them what a sociopath is.
Hopefully, he will just disappear.
My husband keeps threatening, but he seems to be all talk. Despite his threats that some day in the future he will have our son with with him half time, he seems to be occupied elsewhere. I am documenting everything. I wish it didn't freak me out but it does. I have noticed that I am in charge: I say bring him home at 6p and he is home on time. For some reason I can set the rules. 8 months and my son has never spent one night away from me.
Such is life.
Yes, our hearts were abused, our very being was abused and it never mattered to them. That truth is hard to face. I have days where I feel so strong. I hope you do too. You must be strong to make the brave move to leave with three kids. I hope you give yourself credit for that.
How do you keep your sociopath away from your kids?

Mobu thank you for your kind words,we have to stay strong for our kids and its difficult recovering from the abuse and parenting too.my ex is Only interested in his own life and now new woman and her family,many threats he made to me hoping I would give in.he knows he has to go do this hard way through court so it annoys him.
I will not negotiate with him due to abuse from him and third partie needs to be involved now.but I know in his superior mind he is thinking to himself one day he will be charming and I won't be able to resist him because he is big headed.one day he will be bored and this woman or whoever he is with wont be feeding his ego or needs
I know him, yes?! This is their way,I will never let that man ever in to my life so he is deluded to imagine this.
