When the P/S pops into your head you need to change your thoughts to sandy beaches or shopping lol.
Its been about 5 months since i last saw him and about 5 weeks ago i got a text. I'm feeling much better. Its crazy but a relationship with a P/S actually altered my brain. My brain was sick with loss from this toxic affair. In many ways its been easier for me because it was just he and I. No children, no mutual friends, so i was able to get out without too much damage, allot of heartache but I'm moving on. I still miss him sometimes but I know he is a moron with no future.

I would love the idea of no contact but the man I married and I have children. I did do no contact with an ex in college and it took about two years for the pain and desire to really go away, but it did eventually go away since we did not have contact.

Lucky! 5 months since you last saw him, mine has been just a month. Its painful but I hope it will get better with time.
It surprises me that we know about all their mind disorder and bulls**t and yet miss them at times.
They dont even deserve 0.001% of our attention.

Another way I've found is to literally do a 180 and only focus on all the terrible things he's done. It sounds harsh and completely goes against my humanity but seems to work. Sure there were wonderful times but 80-85 percent of the time it was abusive, manipulative, fake, and hurtful. I try not to focus on what could have been or what should have been had he been a normally socialized person, and more on the absolutely crazy sh*t he put me and my family through. As often as possible when I think of him or see his face in my minds eye, I pull out my list of remembrances of horrid times, and suddenly I don't miss him. This exercise is not to be confused with unforgiveness, but rather a retraining of my brain to see things from a realistic rather than a purely emotional viewpoint. I forgive him, and more importantly I forgive myself for failing to take care of myself and nurture ME through my allowing someone to treat me the way I would never treat someone I supposedly LOVE!

But hey if sandy beaches work for you WooHoo!!!!! LOL

Also it amazes me that these people seem to key in to us and cause otherwise non addictive personalities to feel addicted. Emotional vampires..
