Is he or she a sociopath or psychopath? Think we're only talking about serial killers here? Psychopaths, sociopaths and even narcissists come in every walk of life, every career level, and every socio-economic category.

I came across a blog today that spoke of the power of mantras, specifically one word mantras. Essentially a person finds a word that describes the state of tranquility/happiness the person aspires for and can be posted on a mirror so it's the first thing he/she sees in the morning and at night. It should be repeated when a person is feeling stressed, alone, depressed, hurt, etc. The word can be changed over time (i.e. the next year). I'm thinking of a one word mantra for this year and thought I'd throw this idea out to the members of this group who continue to share, support, and inspire me.

"Embrace"....embrace the truth behind all the lies. Embrace the pain and scars and don't feel ashamed of them. Embrace yourself...because that's what we need most, and what sociopaths promise us and never deliver.

Phoenix 56 i like that as well. Embrace the truth! Embracing what they are is difficult but it helps us to get back to reality and "out of the fog". I also am trying Love Yourself as when i was discarded i felt like i must be a very unloving person to get dumped like this. What did i do to deserve this????

Good idea to put mantra's up on mirrors and around the house. So many people have given quotes in this blog i think i am going to keep an attitude of gratitude journal and put them in there to remember it is best to take care of me.

Oh and our minister once gave a very profound statement about these types of people. Mine had already run from the law and was creating a new life in California with a new woman. He did not tell me that but my gut told me that and he called someone back at the church and he told them that.

He said, Bad people spoil good morals which is so true of these people. They will use you and get you to do things that are not right.

Just wanted to share that thought. I can't imagine being any closer to pure evil.

'self respect' would be my mantra for the coming year. Especially given that the sheer lack of it has gotten me into this situation in the first place.
