Love Bombing

We've all used the term, and I think we all know what it means. But I found this series of texts from last fall and felt like sharing them. Classic love bombing and typical of my P:

12:22am, Nov 6 - I dream of you every night
12:22am, Nov 6 - I love you
12:39am, Nov 6 - Please don't doubt my love for you. I can not live without you. You have given me something I never thought I would have, True love. I love you like I have never loved before. My mind is obsessed with you. You are all I can think of. My body aches for your touch. My heart longs for you. My soul needs you to live. I prayed everyday for someone who would love me. Someone I would grow old with. My soul mate! You found me and I won't let you go. You are mine forever, no matter what! I love you infinity times two!

Reading this now, I feel a pang of nostalgia and a nauseating sense of repulsion.

avram, you just brought back sad nostalgia to me too, I had hundreds of texts just like that. In a way it comforts me to know there is nothing really original about such love bombing texts, but never before had I been love bombed like that. But if we step back and really look at it..........it is repulsive if not ridiculous, but I fell and I fell hard.

Me, too, Jen. That was music to my ears. She knew I was asleep at that hour and would wake up to see all the messages. That was part of the plan, I'm sure.

yes, I would receive.....marry me, marry me, marry me, come to me, i ache for you, i"ll never let you go, i've waited my whole life for you, wished upon a star, etc, etc, .........i could go on and on

It is amazing how energy they put into the wording, making "memes" and all the other ways of communicating what is just a bunch of bullshit. But to those of us with a weakness for being told those things, it is the most seductive thing imaginable...and I'm sure we were probed to see if we had that weakness before the bombing began.

Yeah, me too. I got the full multimedia display that included photos and videos taken from others' sites and breathless phone calls dripping with love and sex.

i got the full multimedia display too. I could never do what they did, because it would just be too corny, too over the top embarrassing for me, but I allowed it to happen to me. crazy

Thankfully, I was too embarrassed to respond in kind to the pics. I received. Thankfully, I saved a few of the tame ones so that I could be shown how to do a Google image search and learn where they actually came from. The woman in the pictures is a real person.

Some of those texts remind me of some the e-mails I would often get from my ex psychopath -- just one month after I had started chatting with her online! (I had met her in person abroad a few months earlier). What struck me as odd was how quickly she "inferred" that I was her soulmate, even though she hardly knew me! And yet, just like you, I eventually fell for this nonsense.

What helped me understand how I was ensnared by a psychopath is realizing how she exploited my vulnerabilities. They seem to have an uncanny ability to know exactly what you need from an emotional point of view and what you wish to hear from a lover.

Yes, Vesuvius. Mine spent about 3 months probing me before she finally made her move. By then, she knew exactly where my "buttons" were and how to push them. She had seemingly revealed everything about herself to me during those 3 months, although I now know it was mostly lies. So, there was this false sense of being confided in. She knew I liked that.

My ex-fiance who exhibited a lot of psychopathic tendency would opt to not text me those love bombs, but rather would leave small little love notes for me around the house. I think in 1 day I found like 8-9 of them, all with mad love sayings, forever and ever darling! Your my soul mate, I'll love you for all time, I'm the only one you all ever need, all that sort of stuff.

She's been gone for about 45 days and on occasion I'm still finding her old love notes that were hidden around the house. All the notes looked something a elementary school girl would write, not what a normal 26 year old would write, so by some of the notes I have questioned het mental age, which in my opinion she wrote them as if she was 15-16 years old in the head.
