I really wish I could stand up for myself.I want to run away.I lost legal custody years ago because of my abuser and my inability to walk away. I have no sense of worth.feel like I have no rights.my kids are why I live and I feel no value.they wont bring friends here.dont respect me.I allow them to do whatever they want because feel like if I dont they will love me less. I know they love me and are truly amazing and well behaved.I'm just lost and depressed and sick of being weak.

Sounds like you need an energy lift!! Have you tried counselling? Sorry to hear that you are having a crappy day!! :(

I feel you very much in this....I think the fact to being too nice to be afraid to loose others love, it's a very coomon thing for nice people. But sometimes we really need to find the courage to put some limits otherwise others will treat us bad. Look at yourself in the mirror and find your strainght.....you have it!

We all have days when we feel down and the world seems to be against us. Maybe you should learn to be a bit more assertive about matters surrounding your children, and try to regain some of your battered self worth by standing up for your rights! You have been through a total energy draining experience (with your ex) and so this is bound to add to your misery. Look at your options, decide on a course of action and go with it. If it means fighting for your kids or just asserting your authority a little with them. If you feel guilty because youy put your partner before your children, then try and make things right in any way you can. If they are old enough to understand, talk to them about why you made the choices you did, make them understand that everyone makes mistakes, and that you are sorry that it seemed like you didn't care.

Alijoe, please remember that it is NEVER too late. I am going through similar struggles and if you knew what a loving mother I was and what a creeper my S is you would be so confused and flustered. I totally feel your pain. I had to take myself out of the situation for a little. It was so damn crazy making that i knew even being around my kids in the state i was in was no good. So my advice is to take this time away from your kids to focus on what positive things you can do to improve the situation. That's what I am doing. The best way to feel better is to take care of yourself. Do NOT fall into the pit of despair. In your mind visualize a pit. When you start feeling bad about yourself or the the situation imagine seeing yourself walking around that pit. Tell yourself that is NOT the truth but a LIE. Then slowly, you wont even visualize a pit but just you walking your path.

I hope that helps. You are not alone and FYI last night was a real shitty night for me too. You my friend, are not alone. :)

Thanks for your advice. I have been in the pit for twelve years.just existing for them.I'm a good mom but too soft.it's like a dog waiting for a bone.waiting on call for them to need me. I will be more honest with my counselor tomorrow when I see her..you are a much stronger braver woman than I.
