You could give it a "trip seperation " so to speak. Try it for a few months and see how it goes. You can change your mind.

I've noticed in Western and European countries, family ties have a lot to do with religious beliefs.
I'm not a religious person so severing those ties for me wasn't difficult and was actually one of the best decisions I could have made. It brought me a lot of inner peace.
I also moved several states away from my family, who is still drowning in the chaos they create. I don't miss it. Not even a little. I feel sad for them in knowing they'll never get any better and all they'll experience is anger before they die but I want my own children to be happy and not perpetuate the "crazy-making" cycle.

If it helps, in the animal kingdom, some orphaned mammals and birds often find a new family ... sometimes even outside of their species.
