Victims of Psychopaths Community Group
Is he or she a sociopath or psychopath? Think we're only talking about serial killers here? Psychopaths, sociopaths and even narcissists come in every walk of life, every career level, and every socio-economic category.
Histrionic Menace Still At Large--in World and in
AspInTheBrush
I have Asperger's Syndrome, and am part of the AS support group on here. This may prove relevant to the harrowing tale I'm about to relate, as its probably not something that would affect the average person; though I'm convinced a sociopath was/is involved.
A little more than a year ago, I met someone who, at the very least, I am convinced has Histrionic Personality Disorder. Now, after reading extensively on the disorder, I am well aware that not all those with the disorder are sociopaths/psychopaths (whichever term you feel is most appropriate), but also that more than a few are or can easily exhibit the signs; HPD is, afterall, from the same family that NPD and ASPD are a part of.
Instead of retelling the story, or being an advertisement for another site by lining you to it, I'll copy what I wrote there and put it here, and let you read all about it. Please, tell me what you think. this is still a source of turmoil for me: trying to figure out what went on, why she was the way she was...
I would really like to talk to other people who've experienced things like the following first hand.
My Story:
"To this day (which really isn't such a long time from then) I still don't know what exactly happened that triggered all this, I can only make guesses. However, I know my AS was involved somehow, and I want to post it here to see if any of you can see how, and to see if you have experienced similar things. My primary goal in talking about this is to see if other Asperger's patients can understand why it was this happened to me; as, I believe, it would not have happened to a non-aspie.
Alright...so, I used to be really into Judaism. I was not born Jewish, but, for 6 years (or thereabouts) I was dead set on converting to it. This is, of course, extremely difficult this day and age, but, that's not the topic.
I'm also into the gothic subculture and have been for some time. I was a part of this group on FB that merged the two interests: "Jewish Goth". I was promptly booted out for,--why else?--doing my job (the guy wanted me to be the spiritual head of the group, discussing Jewish spirituality in relation to things, but evidently that was too much for his secular aims, as he only discovered after I began, most fervently, carrying out my appointed task).
Disgusted, but not wanting to throw away the endeavor, I decided to make a group of my own, and began searching for pics to post to it...and that's when I met HER.
Not exactly goth, but on the dark side of the alternative spectrum nonetheless ("emo" or "scene", I guess is what you'd call her) and (so I thought) Jewish too, and wanting to be observant! And pretty! I fell in love almost instantly (as I'm want to do when presented with a potential mate-choice ala the convenient and social skill free internet).
I befriended her on an art site that I will not name, and we talked for two days. We had so many of the same or similar interests, psychology and Judaism being two of them. She was too good to be true...an I should have seen that.
She told me things that, according to my world-view, a Jewish girl should never do, the most salient being conversing with spirits and other occult entities, namely one, whom she claimed was a dead boy from the 1900s (1940s in another place, she is/was either psychotic or a liar--a liar for a fact, but I'm getting ahead of myself).
Now, things have to go my way, if they don't, my world can disintegrate. I objected to what she said not only because of religious injunctions which I intellectually clung to with passion(which she feebly tried to defend), but because it did not fit my rationale in relation to cosmology etc. I broke off any potential for intimacy at that point, but remained her friend, until I found she made me sick with her interests: serial killers are a thing for her, I've known people who find them interesting, and why not, humans are, afterall fascinated by death and negativity, but I got the feeling she actually "liked" them. Indeed, she told me she "identifies with them" and wanted to correspond with Dahmer if he was still living.
Now, I already had a number of fears and doubts in my head at that time, and this lit a fuse under it. The best way I can describe the maelstrom of harrowing thoughts that plagued my mind is to simply offer a rendition of what it was like--I began to think:"She was the one, how could it have gone so wrong, is there really no one like me? Are ghosts real? Can I get trapped as that? Is God really good? What is my soul? If that didn't work nothing will, When will I die? My mom will die soon...
All resulting in a massive breakdown that saw me to 2 different psych wards and committed me to the couch for months. Life had lost all meaning, save the torturous ones. I'm not quite sure how I even got through, but it probably had something to do with the fact that I found a similarly afflicted (in that he had been hurt by that girl too) individual, who told me he found out things about her and she had lied about several things, such as being Jewish. "
I'd like to add that this person has also gone through other religious changes since then, most recently a baptism at a local baptist church. There are other things as well that identify her as an HPD as well as a possible NPD: excessive sexuality--focus on cleavage in photos, etc, longing for support and approval, exaggerated emotionality (like talking about how bad she feels and not wanting to live anymore) and she's also mentioned and even bragged that she may have HPD, and in in a round about way, admits to being a narcissist(she seems to adore psychology)
Please respond to this, it has been on my mind lately, and I previously posted this on another site, and, despite 50 views, no responses.
Thankyou.

Also, I am no longer atheist, as my faith has recovered significantly since this was first written.
I hope you can find someone right for you and right in the head too.
I don't know anything about the different types of mental illnesses, so I can't help you there.
I wish you a better future.
Take care of you,
Anya
I'm glad I found this.
Here is a good primer on the disorders I spoke of: I believe I have her narrowed down to a bipolar histrionic with narcissistic and antisocial features.
I don;t know why I seem to be obsessed with her either, that is also hopefully something I will find out and conquer during my stay here.
