Victims of Psychopaths Community Group
Is he or she a sociopath or psychopath? Think we're only talking about serial killers here? Psychopaths, sociopaths and even narcissists come in every walk of life, every career level, and every socio-economic category.
Hi all-
I've been a member for a while but havent posted for a long time. My ex husband is most probably a N but his wife is most certainly an S or P. My daughter is used to watching me deal with- or actively ignore and maintain my no contact but she interprets a lot of this as letting it go.. or letting these things happen to me.
She has a friend who she cannot get rid of- or shall I say- a girl in the same circles who seems to be a bit obsessed with her. This girl also attacks and devalues my daughter a lot- I'm thinking its mostly because my daughter knows what she is and knows that even her own mother thinks she is a compulsive liar.
I'm not sure if its the age- 16 - or part of my daughters personality- she's the kid that has to confront everything- make sure there is social justice etc but she cannot just let this stuff lie. I tell her that her other friends will find out what this girl is like in due course. That's she's making it harder for herself by trying to "fix" these situations.
No contact is her best bet but its sort of hard when someone is in your social group. Inevitably people seem to say things like- X is not talking to Y etc and then things go downhill again. Ive also told my daughter to do Grey Rock method- be boring as hell when that girl is around and NOT to say things like- I'm not hanging around you... just make an excuse etc.
Anyone got any ideas? Like I said- I think some of this has to do with her being 16 and other aspects of her personality. She hates doing things the non-confrontational way....

P.s. This friend is now 17- I know she is not old enough for diagnosis. She has however been in trouble with the law... she's a compulsive liar and my daughter has been through the whole cycle including DD twice and I'm worried about a 3rd.

I want to say that your daughter's impulse to confront wrongdoing is probably a permanent part of her personality and most likely derives from a strong moral character. As she gets oder, she probably will temper the impulse a bit as confrontation is not always effective or the best solution. You are right that Grey Rock or avoidance of the "friend" is the best solution. Not being associated with the girl would be the best possible outcome.
