I am so sorry to hear that you are going through this. I don't know the specifics of your situation, but I want to let you know that I care and want to help. I do have experience with sociopaths/psychopaths, as my father is one and so was my ex. I do understand how unsafe they can make people feel. Are you physically in danger? You are the first person that I have ever had acknowledge and know the hell im in. Once I realized my husband for what he really is...it was disgusting but incredible to realize that my father is and was the same. Either a sociopath or a Narcissist..either way I never realized my father was one until I discovered what they are due to the relationship with my husband and this was about 1 month ago that I found the answers to the bizarre behaviors my husband displayed. All I do is isolate in my room and read self help books while my 4 young kids are takin care of by a live in nanny. I feel like I'm living outside of my body and I'm frozen with fear and abandonment feelings. I know this is difficult. I grew up with conditioning by my father. He was emotionally abusive, he enjoyed humiliating me, and his mission was to have complete control over me and my feelings. I have very little contact with him now and I understand that everything he does is for show or to reach his goal of feeling all powerful. The relationship I was in for close to two years was with a man who brought me close to suicide on many occasions. No one seemed to understand why I would put up with the way he treated me, but they also didn't see how he brain washed me and used tactics to beat me down emotionally regularly all while making me feel that it was my fault. I felt that I couldn't escape the abuse, because I grew up with the same abuse from my father. I don't know all the specifics of your situation, but what I can say is that I understand the feelings of feeling stuck with a psychopath. The fear of what they are capable of feels crippling at times. I think it is great that you are reaching out on here and I encourage you to reach out to someone or some group in your community. Sociopaths have a way of making us feel isolated and it is so important to our recovery to reach out and not be alone. Is there a support group in your area that you can join or any family that you might be able to stay with for a bit of time?

but it also sounds like you are a survivor. you have kids? why not take the kids out and see if you can join a church group or some drop in group oat a local women's shelter? sometimes they have art therapy groups for free for both mom and kids. or, just see if there is a local reading group at your local library. sometimes libraries are the cultural centers of more remote towns. and they have reference librarians who can look up info for you about other cool things to do. are there police athletic leagues in your area??? or some kind of acting studio that offers lessons???

I am surviving. But I don't know if I will be a surviver. I can't even leave my room. My 4 kids are losing their mom. They are well taken care of but that is my live in nanny. My kids need their mom. I want to be their mom actively engaging with them. But at this point it's like asking a blind person to look at the sky. I'm paralyzed emotionally which then feels physically. It's taking every ounce of the life within myself that's almost gone just to type these messages. But
