I'm finding that physical exercise does wonders for my mental health and overall recovery from the damage done by the P. I passed a milestone today in that I was able to run on the treadmill and have my iPod on shuffle and not have to skip songs that reminded me of her.

I know that exercise releases endorphins that provides a high similar to what I experienced when I was being love bombed. But this is so much more real and constructive.

Given some of the health challenges I've faced, I am extremely grateful to be able to exercise this way. And feeling gratitude is the best antidote to depression.

Way to go Avram! I am very happy to hear about your progress. Exercise is excellent for us in so many ways. You are on the right track and I wish for you more and more progress. Stay strong.

I wish I could get off my butt. It's all I can do to function at all right now.
I injured my rotator cuff and have been suffering all winter.
I got out and started cleaning the garage today.
I pulled out all my garden pots and supplies, some patio furniture.
I tried to see if there was any way I could start the lawn mower, but no.

We are on different stages. So its grate when somebody can give the input about exercise. maybe this will make me able to go out in the sunshine today. Well done avram !
BedHog, You have started tha garage , that is great too. Think we all have experienced days that nothing was possible at all.

I find too, that vigorous exercise, is VERY helpful. For me, it's about the only thing that keeps my CD from taking over my thoughts. The hardest part with exercise , is simply taking the first step - and then, once you're out there running or whatever, breathing, sweating, the mind has a chance to calm and the body feels stronger .

Yes, I didn't mean to make anyone feel bad because of their physical limitations. I have some, too. It's just that getting outdoors or being active indoors does so much for my mood.

I agree completely, the hardest part of any exercise is the mental part of starting it. From then on, it's cruise control for the most part.

I'm proud of you avram! Working out helps so much. For me, taking a nice walk helps. Even sitting outside enjoying the sunshine and fresh air is rejuvenating. So thankful spring is here. I'm always cooped up in the winter, so I don't take the warm temps for granted! Wishing you continued success with your healing. Best wishes for everyone in our journeys to freedom and recovery.

No one's rained on my parade at all. I just remembered that I am lucky to be healthy enough for exercise. That wasn't always the case. I hope your situation improves, BedHog, and that anyone else with physical limitations or injuries is able to do some exercise.

Ahh, so true! Today I've resolved to start lifting weights again. I really have to before I start my intensely physical summer job, so i don't get injured...and it will help with my back and neck problems, if i am very careful. But i've been procrastinating. Thanks for reminding me how much better I will feel mentally too. Love the endorphins....and gratitude too.
