I always found it troubling that most societies demand you respect and care for your mother. It is like society sides with our narcissistic mothers. This bothered me for many years and still does. I avoid place where people may know my mother so they don't ask questions. There have been times when I even said she was dead so no one asked anymore questions. As I have gotten older fewer people ask about her-kinda a cold comfort.
My uncles see there is something most untoward and offer a shoulder to cry on, one aunt offers more support seeing that things are just not right.
But, everyone else buys into her presented image.
Can I really never go home again, must I also rob my daughter of knowing all her extended family and the joys of belonging to a community where she would otherwise always be welcome.
It's so freaking hard.
