For persons dealing with the aftermath of crime: direct victims and family members, to provide support and manage the trauma the event and the legal system can create.
Maybe someone will find this- I created a group tonight because I am struggling. I am finally feeling more than shock and loss. My uncle was murdered in February of 2022. We don't know the exact date. Anyhow the prosecutors office wants to meet with us again via zoom. My father pisses me off because it feels like he is play-acting the concerned brother when he victim-blamed my uncle for being murdered. Tonight I felt rage and a desire to harm the man who killed him- this man confessed and has recanted and is pleading not guilty. He lived in my uncles home, used his credit cards and attempted to sell my uncles car. The killers attorney filed a motion for dismissal and then offered a pleas deal which would allow him the possibility of parole. If the prosecutors office allows this I don't think I can handle myself- I am feeling such rage and it won't go well with my dad who no one besmirches his reputation. I was not able to attend my uncles funeral. My dad went. I took care of my mom who has dementia. I'm not sure how to feel about anything but I am up at 3 am not able to sleep and going through court records to find out there is a hearing on the 16th of this month. I think part of what is hard is we know my uncle was alive Feb 7- but don't believe he was after that- trauma day I guess makes sense.
