Vent Scream Yell and Medicate Your Anxiety Away! Community Group
A group for those who suffer from generalized anxiety disorder who choose to use medication to help them manage their symptoms. If you dont use medication that's ok, it is also a "safe haven" where you can say what is on your mind without the fear of the post being taken down by moderators. The only rule is that there will be NO posts regarding the negatives of...
I have generalized Anxiety, Depression, MVP (Mitral Valve Prolapse), Chronic Bronchitis and have suffered Panic Attacks, Colitis Attacks and Angina in the past. Although the Anxiety seems to be somewhat managed, I do have a prescription of Xanax .25 up to three a day as needed. I haven't taken it in awhile, but it's there if I need it. I keep the prescription up to date.
I take Citalopram and Trazadone on a daily basis. I also have Flovent and Albuterol for Chronic Bronchitis. I no longer need meds for MVP.
I am perscribed 4 xanax a day and rarely take that many. So I do feel I am getting better, but depends on the day!
I am happily married, have a bunnie and a cat that I adore and no kids!
My name is Alton, but many people call me Axl. High five to you Lisa for starting this group!..I have suffered with social/free floating anxiety since I was 23,,I'm 48 now,,and I know that anxiety is just a part of who I am,,,no trying to hide from that. I,,like Lisa have tried everything for the depression that I also deal with,,but like her,,I cannot tolerate anti-depressants..But by far,,I'm not against them,,,if I could handle them,,I'd be on one right now,,for sure..I do take a high dosage of Tranxene each day,,and I take it 4 times daily..Still the anxiety is there,,but I seem to be able to handle it better,,,so this I know,,,I Will be on anti-anxiety medication for the rest of my life..But to me thats fine,,as long as I have something to help me deal with it..To you Brandy,,I'd like to say that I am so sorry for all the losses that you've had to deal with, my heart goes out to you. Also that is when All my anxiety and depression problems began,,,at the passing of someone that I loved. And as life as gone by,,the passing of anyone who I know,,or love, my anxiety only increases....I Do fear dying,,Very much so,,but I know that just as birth is part of life,,so is death,,,Thank God for medication and Thank you again Lisa, for starting this group. I'm very happy that you invited me.
My name is Sarah and I'm 35 years old. Five years ago I suffered from post partum depression after the birth of my 2nd son. At that time I took Zoloft and medication to sleep and within a few months was feeling like myself again. Recently my household was turned upside down when my husband and I took in our two nieces...we managed to take care of them until their father got his own apartment, but during that time my anxiety came back with a vengance and I developed insomnia again. I'm on zoloft once again (at a higher dose than before) and take ambien at night to sleep. I've been on the zoloft for about 5 1/2 weeks now and do feel better than I did at the beginning. My doctor said I'm looking at being on medication for about a year but if I had to take it for the rest of my life I would. I'm very thankful there are medications to help with anxiety.
I have been diagnosed with Major Depressive Disorder, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Panic Disorder with Agoraphobia, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and most recently Borderline Personality Disorder.
I have had most, if not all of these problems all my life. Over the years they have continued to come in spells with each spell/fall worse than the last one. My present bout of severe anxiety and depression has been over a year and a half.
I am presently doing day treatment at the hospital. I am also on several medications for anxiety and depression. I have been told I will need medications for the rest of my life. I also believe I need them because most of these disorders are biological and heritary. Therapy can help to learn to manage some of it, but not all of it.
I suffer from GAD and the occasional panic attack. I have enlisted a variety of therapies to help my manage and have been successful for the most part. I wish I didn't have this but I do and being around people who understand has been a great comfort.
Currently on Dosulepin and a small dose of Abilify.
Looking forward to getting to know you all a little better.
All the best. Mike
I got sick of letting the anxiety have it's way with me without putting up a fight so I've started prozac and buspar, read the "Worry Cure" started practing some techniques , try to exercise and I've found these boards. It's helping alot. Plus fishing season is here!
I'm also a recovering alcoholic.
Glad to be here.
