Hey everyone! So I am new to this sort of thing, and I know that my problems are incredibly insignificant compared to so many others, but I guess I was hoping that just getting somethings off of my chest would help. I have been married for three years now. It seems like every year we have had some stressful event that has caused a great deal of stress on our relationship. I feel frustrated a lot of times becuase I feel like I use this as an excuse for why our relationship seems to just not be working. About three months after we got married, Hurricane Florence did a ton of damage to our house to the point that it was taken down to the studs and joist and rebuilt from there. We were finally able to move back into our house a little over a year later. That experience placed a lot of stress on our relaationship and really highlighted not only how different we handled those kinds of situations, but also his unwillingness a lot of times to communicate with me and respect what I was saying and how I was feeling. Despite all of that, I was so excited to finally get to be a married couple in our own house and, ideally, start to grow our family. This was when my husband's brother decided that he wanted to move closer to us. At first, I was fine with this idea because he was looking at jobs and places to stay. I made the offer that if he needed to stay for a short time (thinking like two to three weeks) until he could move in to a place that would be fine. This idea was then put on hold due to COVID. The next time I heard anything about it was when his brother called to confirm the date that my husband would be getting a trailer and helping him move down (this was going to be a twelve hour trip one way). I was very confused because I had no idea that this was going to be happening. When I asked exactly what the plan was, his brother told me that he would be staying for at least a month before even looking for a job or a place to live. This was beyond frustrating for me as I was never included in any conversation about him moving into our home. He stayed with us for six months without paying for anything other than dinner a few times. During this time, I felt like I completely lost my say in anything. I felt uncomfortable in my own home and felt like a hostess every day. On top of this my husband allowed him to borrow a large sum of money in order to buy a car becuase his continued to break down. I found out through my brother in law that this happened. I think what frustrated me the most though was the inability to start a family becuase of all of this. And what hurt the most is that my husband threw it in my face that I had made him wait and so this was no different. I had "made him wait" becuase we did not even have a home that we were living in and we moved three times before we got back into our house. I just feel like we are not even able to communicate in a loving or even effective way anymore and it hurts. I guess I just need to know if this can get better?? Thank you for listening to my silly rant. I really appreciate it!
