I wanted to get online to see if the situation I am in is unique or if it's common. After reading through some of the posts, I see it's pretty common- but that doesn't make it any easier... Been married for 8 years. I have a 13-year-old daughter and her father is still in the picture and there are little to no problems on that end. My current husband is so distant and standoffish. He gets so mad at me and then literally stops talking to me. I have a great group of friends, but I don't feel like I can share with them what I am going through because I don't want them to dislike him. When my daughter is home, he's fine- he's not great but he doesn't speak as harshly to me as when she is away. There have been times when his interactions with me are minimal at best- a Yes or a No answer to a question and that is it- for months on end. I do believe he is depressed and I think he knows it too, but nothing is done about it. I am a strong woman who is a leader in my profession. I run a large team but when I get home I feel so insignificant and unloved. It's so difficult to manage this situation. Divorce isn't an option right now, although, from his action, he seems like he absolutely hates me. He isn't physically abusive at all, but damn- this is tough on my mental and emotional state. I keep thinking that there are others who go through this and worse, so I am just whining about it when I just need to deal with it. Some days I handle it better than others, but I am just so lonely- even though I have friends to spend time with. I am missing the love, emotional and physical connection to my husband. I DO love him and I want to work things out but not sure how because I can't do it on my own- he has to be willing to want to as well.
